ocd so bad i can't consume official media of my favs because i'm terribly afraid of something irreversable being done to them that'll put them on the course of constant agony or evil or something and then i won't be allowed to draw fluff or silly things unless it's in the past
Once again, the circular conversation is with his reflection. It’s... dirty and asking him to dirty himself in no small measure. Murdock is the lowest form of life trying to make ends meet by crawling up the horizon of Wilson’s back. A bug.
❛No...❜
He still has yet to return the blood-streaked beating as he knelt and Vanessa——
Like a grenade ring, his lip flickers. His sense of smell never came back fully. His teeth, gone. He watches, as good as gouges, the dead impressions behind Murdock’s farcical glasses.
a mistake. had last night really been a mistake? yes, alcohol had been the driving force in bringing them together, the main catalyst that had caused them to fall into bed together... except it hadn't been, not really. because he'd be lying if he said that he hadn't thought of her in that way before, that the thought of sleeping with her hadn't ever crossed his mind. but he's simply a man, one who has urges that sometimes push common sense out of the way.
but can he really be blamed when it had seemed that her urges had matched his? or was she the one who considered it a mistake? was she now regretting blurring the lines between a professional and a personal relationship? ‘ do you think it was? a mistake? ’ he asks her, fingers tentatively pushing through soft hair that had last night been slick and shining with the sweat of their exertions. he finds that he's not exactly sure what he wants her answer to be, whether he wants her to tell him that she's keen for this to happen again or wants her to dismiss him entirely. and examining his own wants too closely has always been a bad idea, one that has landed him in hot water before.
* discussions about wilson + loyalty to house. this might be lengthy, so please read at your own risk. so, i’m still at season 2, ( season 2, episode 11 to be precise ) and this is after the incident wherein stacy, who was married at this point of the series, kissed house. now there’s nothing to write home about on the affair, or the start of one, but wilson’s reaction after that?
wilson’s reaction after that was curious as hell. what i think is particularly interesting about wilson’s stand on this whole thing is that, wilson himself is a serial cheater. we’ve known about this; it’s one of the traits he’s been established with. which, in and of itself, is already a complex characteristic about him because it goes against the usual archetype he is commonly associated with, which was the reasonable one. the kinder one. the doctor who helps and cares for cancer patients.
whereas house is a danger to himself and is a hostile physician, wilson is likeable and good-natured. but he cheats. he struggles with it, in fact.
now, to get over that, wilson’s stance with house pursuing a married stacy is on par with how he handles the rest of house’s stubborn pursuit. he doesn’t always support it, may even try to put an argument or two, but in the end he doesn’t actively stop house — probably knowing better that house will do what house wants anyways. plus, most of the time, the damage has already been done before wilson could advise against it.
i always think it’s always a bit odd, though. wilson has this air about him that he supports house’s wanting romance again — we see this with cameron, particularly — but he’s also so... cautious of it at the same time. to bring up a shine example, when cameron was going to go on that date with house, foreman and chase were advising cameron against it. wilson came, and cameron thought he might give the same advice.
but he didn’t.
he told cameron to not break house’s heart.
and it’s so curious. it’s so interesting! and now, in season 2 episode 10, stacy has kissed house. in the episode that followed, wilson is shocked. he went and met stacy and this argument is what stopped me in the tracks because of how honestly protective wilson is, while stacy — perhaps the ever classic lawyer — tried diminishing the issue and even cast doubt, gaslights.
the dialogues are as followed:
wilson: what the hell that you do? were you just cold and lonely?
stacy: of course he told you. he’s an eight year old boy.
wilson: hey, you’re the one who kissed him!
stacy: why are you so worked up over this?
wilson: because you’re married.
stacy: not to you. this is none of your business.
wilson: the last time you left, i was the one stuck picking up the pieces
stacy: oh right, he cried himself to sleep every night. that sounds just like him.
wilson: he’s been pining for five years!
stacy: you’re being dramatic.
wilson: no! actually, i’m underplaying. this is me being [gestures] restrained.
stacy: it was one kiss!
wilson: are you being... intentionally thick?
[pauses. wilson comes closer]
wilson: this was not just a one-night stand. you can’t toy with him.
stacy: i’m not.
[wilson and stacy stare at each other.]
stacy: he’s probably toying with me. i do-- i don’t know what i’m doing.
wilson: (sighing) oh boy.
i love, love wilson’s dialogues. everything about it was perfect. he highlighted the problem, he pointed out that stacy was the one who screwed up and could potentially led house on, he stressed that house was actually far more vulnerable than stacy gave credits for and it’s just — it’s so wonderful. it gave the complexity of wilson, who is a serial cheater against an affair, because this one involved his best friend. and who has wilson been defending so furiously since beginning?
that said best friend.
against volger, against cameron. now, against stacy. it also did made me judge stacy far more critically because wilson was right. she was reckless in her pursuit, and this could be dangerous for all involved. stacy lived with house for five years, and the show consistently presented her behaviour showcasing how she too, could read house well. in fact, probably as well as wilson ( who is house’s long time friend ) could. but in that moment of the confrontation, she avoided, she deflected, she gaslighted to avoid taking in the responsibility that she was the one who kissed house in the end and could potentially ruin many relationships.
i won’t go too much from what i could observe from house’s behaviour, but please do make note that while house’s actions were more often than not inappropriate during their pursuit — liking going to stacy’s house, always trying to entice stacy to admit that she had feelings for him — he was still upfront about it. he, at the very least, thought things through, and always asked stacy what it could mean, and how he should interpret their interactions. he owned all misdoing he’s done. he’s a bastard, but at the very least, house takes responsibility.
i’m not sure exactly what the conclusion is, but i wanted to make note about how just... outrageously loyal and protective wilson is, that it’s so curious and enlightening to study and continuously observe. wilson, who was known to cheat on his wives, lost his job to protect house; told an ambitious doctor to not hurt house romantically; and now confronted stacy that she could not mess with him if she did not think her marriage through.
