The infamous Kansas 2, property section. I should get shots of the soil layers, because this area is actually sitting on a near continuous slab of natural calcrete. The clay dust sits over a layer of cobblestone unevenly distributed over the ancient petrified seashore. This is therefore its typical state in undisturbed areas. It’s actually more vegetated in artificially managed areas and more “desolate” in its normal state. Left without human intervention other than fencing for multiple years, you get clay dunes eventually.
