Wing! AU where Tim goes to find Bruce and gets injured, however instead of losing his spleen, he damages one of his wings. He tries to set it himself, (because he's so close! He can't quit now! He can't go home yet. Not without Bruce) but the lack of decent medical equipment and the longer than expected journey means that by the time he actually gets to a doctor, there's nothing they can do for him, and he (and the rest of the family) have to come to terms with the fact that getting Bruce back came at the loss of Tim’s ability to fly
A while back, I saw a post about an AU where Jason secretly had wings but had hidden them for years, only revealing them after he came back. As a result, his family thought he was something like an avenging angel and wanted to prevent him from becoming a fallen angel.
(…. I think it was @ghost-bxrd who posted the original idea???)
I’m sleep deprived, so I’m having thoughts about this.
Instead of Jason originally having wings, he decided to go full theater kid route when he comes back and makes a fake but at least a semi-functioning pair.
I’d like to say they start off white but slowly get dyed red, either by blood or because Jason’s a theater kid. Cuz I have this very vivid image in my mind of him standing on a building in the setting sun with wings dripping with blood.
He’s absolutely enjoying the horror he’s instilling in the criminals of Gotham. And the good people of Gotham, who are trapped in the city’s endless cycle of violence, speak of him in hushed tones.
His family is horrified by the idea he’s come back as something otherworldly and enacting such a vicious brand of justice. And are trying to figure out how to not only adjust to the idea Jason’s something OTHER while trying to figure out how to get him to stop/maybe get him to rest/maybe somehow save him. They don’t know. Religious entities aren’t their strong suit.
Wing au where Fox is glowing, like literally his wings seem like they’re glowing, because he’s trying to seem more attractive to potential mates (Bail and Breha) but also at the same time he’s living under harsh conditions that make him less healthy meaning his wings might not be so vibrant
So the question is is he duller or more vibrant?
Or secret third option it cancels out so none of his brothers are able to see his wings and go “oh hey something isn’t right over here why are you so dull?” And also can’t tease him for trying to look so pretty
Edit: Glowing as in under the tetrachromatic range of vision, Bail and Breha cannot see this and Fox isn’t really aware that’s what’s going on akkdkf
For a couple like Iceman and Maverick, where their wings are to such different sizes, figuring out which feathers could be exchanged that people would notice and also wouldn't impact their flight would mean it couldn't done casually. Which means it's all the more intimate.
Omg yes ♡ lots of careful planning, weighing placement and size with visibility!!
Although also consider: voluntarily grounding or at least 'inconveniencing' themselves to show how important the other person is ♡ ('You. Voluntarily flying less. Hm.' Ice didn't have to sound THAT skeptical, geez. 'Counter argument; I finally get to show off your hardware in my wings, I want to do it all the way.' More softly, 'Come on, Ice. You have to know I'd choose you, right?' No answer forthcoming as Iceman sort of melts and just folds Mav up in a borderline clingy hug)
In Helena's opinion, fries of any kind are the best snack. They go with lots of foods and sauces, someone else appears to agree with Helena's opinion.
This is apart of Astro_S0up's Wing!Au.
Also this Helena is a self-insert oc and I also posted this on my Ao3
Helena was a formidable presence, with the wings of a Sora and being a skilled hybrid of Atlantean and human. Despite having such a feeble body, they appeared to be skilled in battle, mostly through hydrokinesis. They benefited from it in most circumstances, but not all of them, like the one that exists right now. Helena's face flashes with a look of complete betrayal, and their feathers prickle when they realize that seven of their french fries are missing.
Even though they still had a ton of fries, they were quite irritated by the thought of any of their teammates taking their meal. The first person who immediately came to mind as a food thief was Wally, but the speedster in question was addressing a personal issue.
With a quiet sigh, Helena made the decision to take their box of fries and head to the lounge. "Alright, fess up, who stole my fries?" Helena yells, glancing at everyone in the lounge at the moment. "I haven't touched the shared fridge." M'gann speaks up and turns to face the others.
Helena knows that M'gann never eats food that isn't presented to her, Kon is finicky and doesn't typically eat fries with extra salt, and Artemis won't touch anything but her own food. Kon merely shakes his head while Artemis shrugs.
"Alright then..." Helena storms out, heading into the next room, where they find Dick chatting away while he does his acrobatics, the odd feather dropping to the ground. "Hey Dick, did you steal my fries?!" Helena inquires, having to speak a little louder so that Dick can hear them. With a quick flap of his wings, Dick lands effortlessly in front of Helena and says, "Nah, I had my own fries; Kaldur was in the kitchen earlier though; you should as him if he saw anyone."
As he looks at the box containing Helena's fries, Dick shrugs. Helena swiftly smacks his hand when he tries to smuggle in a fry. "I'll make some more here soon; I've just got to find the fry thief, so stay out of mine."
As they head out of the room to find Kaldur, Helena sighs. A portion of them questions Kaldur's willingness to steal food of any type, given his rigid, straightforward, and respectful demeanor. With their wings slightly puffed up in frustration, the Atlantean hybrid roams around most of Mount Justice, clueless of the whereabouts of their team leader.
After half an hour, they gave up looking and returned to the kitchen. Helena groans as they set their package of fries on the counter. They turn to find Kaldur sneaking a fry as they hear the sound of parchment paper rustling just as they turn to get a drink.
"Kaldur... Did you steal my fries earlier?" Helena queries, glancing at the winged Atlantean, Kaldur's own, which resemble a piping plover's and quiver slightly when he's caught before swiftly relaxing. "Yes, I did." A subtle yet arrogant smile spreads across his face as he starts to move away. As he eats the fries he took, he remarks, "No one will believe you though."
Helena presses their forehead to the counter out of defeat.
zuko's wings are red-tailed cockatoo's but he (and his family) calls them cuckoo wings.
aang's wings are swan-sparrow wings. you know, graceful migrating birds who live in cliffs.
toph's wings are from a burrowing owl and they are too small for her to fly with but sturdy enough to help dig.
katara's wings are ptarmigan-owl (snowy owl specifically) wings. Adapted to the cold.
sokka's wings are a heron-fisher's (king fisher) wings. a hunter's wings.
azula's are hummingbird-shrike's. self explanatory i think, she may or may not dye them and they were the only thing her father disapproved of until she mastered lightning and blue was fashionable again.
the blog @gallifeathers is inactive but has a few New Who winged time lord edits
I like to imagine that flying isn't necessary to get around on Gallifrey but it you would probably show off to your friends if you can do backflips in mid-air.
Time Lord clothes come with wing slits and/or bigger-on-the-inside technology, so the Doctor has to adjust human clothes they pick up to accomodate their wings. Thier wing feathers have hints of artron energy and their DNA, and when properly groomed by other Time Lords, feathers don't fall out often. The Doctor doesn't have any other Time Lords they could ask to do this, so they need to take care to not leave behind feathers so their enemies can't track them. This is a task they fail at, often.
OOOO THANK YOU FOR THE REFERENCE LINK
The only people the Doctor can ask to help groom them are his human companions, which requires both a lot of trust and I imagine a bit of training to do it right. Maybe they give some of their companions loose feathers as a gift, a sort of "here's a piece of me" gesture. (Plus, a crafty companion might be able to use it as a sort of Doctor Detector, like what Jack did with the Doctor's Actual Hand, lol.)
I bet Theta pulled a lot of dumb flying stunts in the Academy with Koschei, the menaces.
@project-isles , I saw your last post about Wing!Freddy and your desire to draw proper design for your Au's. I got ideas, here is a sneak peak of your Wing!au in my style (This particular Goldie's design is living rent free in my head since far too long). I hope you like those design because I will not stop just with this au.
Now, Fear me! Because for each one of those, I plan to draw each Goldie and Freddy, using my imagination, your post and your gacha life's design.
I am doing that for my own enjoyment, so don't feel pressured to answer or like (I just want your opinions). They are just suggestions and ideas for anyone to use. Hope you like it. Have a good day/night.
Oops, I forgot to write the medieval Aga au (will not change design, just want to draw them in my style)
