Here are some pics from the process of painting a behdety, or winged sun, on my jacket from a while ago.

I had at first gotten fabric paints, but they were for kids and looked a little too popsicle-like for my liking. I ended up mixing fabric softener into acrylics for the richer shades I ended up adding. The denim grain made a lot of layers necessary, which was a pain, especially for the details, but worth it in my opinion.

For the feathers, I tried to pick a dark teal, evocative of faience, and the lighter blue, close to this "Egyptian blue" I heard about, but I haven't fact-checked if it was a specific shade they mixed. Gold is always a pain to work with but so extra, also worth it. Hopefully the protective spray I got won't destroy the flexibility of the jacket, so I don't have to worry about any of it coming off. Everything else I referenced with pictures, and it was hard to tell what colours some ageing paintings were supposed to be, especially because I have no expertise in Egyptology.

Tbh I have no idea where I'm going to wear this. I wanted to paint protective stuff on it since it's kind of my emotional support denim, and I'm a Kemetic pagan, but it's become clear to me this is extravagant and intimidating. I just felt so strongly that a behdety had to go there. It just 👌it just fits. But I was like, hey maybe some ancient painters would dig this energy.

The big section on the back has been devoted to a pectoral belonging to Tutankhamun, and there's more from a fresco (I think) underneath it that I'm still working on, so maybe I'll post those sometime. It's mostly taken so long because I've been procrastinating.

Your Sun design is so subtlety detailed! Like it's almost unnoticeable at first because of the somewhat similar coloring but when you take a closer look you can admire the patterns!! :D

I want to keep that same vibe but I think I emphasized it a little .v."

Winged Sun

He and his companion, forge their method under the knowledge of not going near any extremes. Rise not to high nor to low, for there are hazards in either case that threaten your very life. Only take one tried and true path, this will lead you to safety. As they both make their move one remains on the path, while the other swerves, zig zags, strays to the left then to the right. This leads to one's freedom as the other meets his doom. All that can be said by he who made it to safety is that his companion was warned of the dangers thus he chose his fate. To live fast and dangerous has it's own merit, as does it to live slow and with awareness.
