I think the moral grayness of Turtle is overlooked. In other characters, we can see how characteristics like hate or vengeance or even the desire to be loved can lead to overall harmful choices, but Turtle’s story shows how inaction can also lead to harm. His initial cowardice is an honest to god “good” bad trait. It makes him selfish, even when he knows he has to do something, every choice he makes in the right direction is a battle.

And of course, him turning Anemone into an animus was completely for selfish reasons. He did it out of fear, and Tui was so real for having that choice haunt him his whole life. How he vehemently disagrees when Moon says he’s a good brother.  

Turtle has a lot of depth and I love him so much
