We learn that Kratos's wife has died from some illness. At some point, Kratos has to travel to Helheim in order to retrieve an ingredient that can be used to save his son from different illness. It is there that Kratos learns that all those who go to Hel are those who didn't die by honorable combat. So, does this mean, despite his wife having been a warrior, because she died from an illness, she's in Hel as this game takes place?

That would make sense according to the lore/Norse beliefs, yeah. It also lends a bit of an additional explanation for why Kratos reacts the way he does when he learns who goes to Hel. “It is dishonourable to grow old?” and all that. He hates that people are judged strictly for how they die instead of how they lived, which is how it was in his homeland, and which would’ve landed Faye in a much nicer part of town. Oof.

The Training Continues
3 months seem to fly by. Early Spring becomes late Summer. Winnyao’s training under the Psychonaut of Psychometrics, Mondy Walmond, had been progressing well in the initial 6 weeks. By the 7 week though, it came to a screeching halt. Mondy had taken the girl outside of Headquaters in order to see how she would do in the open environment. Suffice to say, she did not do well at all. All the lessons Winnyao had learned thus far from Mondy seemed to have gone out the window of her mind. When he tested her to see if she could track him beyond roughly a quater of a mile, he ended up having to track her down instead after receiving a text message of ‘Please come find me, I am lost, help?’ from the girl. When he tested her back inside the agency, she did completely fine. As they entered the third month of teaching, Mondy was narrowing down what caused his student to get lost so easily outside of buildings in open areas. She did fine inside of different buildings. Granted, each different building she had to be tested in the girl walked through a few times first to gain a feel for each place. Otherwise, Winnyao would be just a little bit off the mark locating Mondy. Mondy was determined though! Winnyao was a fast learner and he felt she had the potential to be good at Psychometrics. For now though, he would settle on getting a bowl of peanut butter cereal puffs since it was lunch time at Headquaters. Winnyao would bring a bagged lunch every time she was at the agency.
