Hot Chocolate ☕️ Kisses 😘 (pt.2 Autumn 🍂 Nights in the London Countryside)
Steven Grant x female reader
Summary: During a movie night, you decide to surprise Steven with a homemade vegan hot chocolate recipe you found on the internet. As you do so, you accidentally hurt yourself. However, you can always count on Steven to help pick up the pieces. In more ways than one.
A/N: As mentioned in the title, this follows the Autumn 🍂 Nights in the London Countryside story. Also, the vegan hot chocolate recipe was a combination of recipes that I researched online. Therefore, I hope that this goes along with what would be expected from those who drink it. Other than that, I hope you all enjoy this story.
It's a cold, damp, and dark night in London.
The complete opposite of the warmth and comforting vibes that come from yours and your boyfriend's flat.
The two of you are currently cuddling up together in the living room watching Love Actually. The room is filled with a combination of Christmas and Hanukkah decorations, setting the mood as both of you want to celebrate winter/holiday traditions together.
While you and Steven would normally opt to watch a Christmas cartoon, comedy, or sci-fi/fantasy of some kind for a cozy night together like you have been since the November of every weekend, the two of you decided to try watching a genre that either of you wouldn’t normally watch. Hence, why the pair of you decided to watch Love Actually.
Despite being aware of a few known celebrities who are in the movie (RIP Alan Rickman) as well as seeing a few trailers, neither of you have ever seen this movie nor had any interest to. However, both have researched Christmas movies for couples to watch together and this was the most recommended of the choices online.
So far, it’s not what either of you expected. While the trailers that the two of you watched demonstrated some of the actors good, the plot as well as some of its characters are a bit more complex. Nevertheless, interesting.
Despite there only really being 2-3 storylines within the film that interest both of you, you push through and finish the movie.
The two of you are discussing how you’d rate the movie when you tell Steven that you need to go to the kitchen to get something.
“I’ll be back in a clock tick, my love,” you sweetly said to your boyfriend. “Go ahead and pick the next film to watch.”
Steven smiles at you. “‘Kay, love. But don’t expect me to pick another rubbish film like that. Let’s stick with a Christmas cartoon or something, yeah?”
You giggled, kissing his lips before heading to the kitchen. Unbeknownst to your sweet boyfriend, you have bought some ingredients to make some hot chocolate. Particularly, vegan as your boyfriend doesn’t like to eat or drink anything that comes from animals. Not that you mind. As a matter of fact, you’ve found yourself becoming fond of some of the foods that Steven has introduced you to (because you wanted to try it) like chilis or burgers. Therefore, you wanted to impress Steven and make him a vegan sweet treat that the two of you could try together (a recipe that you searched up online, since you are by no means creative enough to come up with your own recipe).
After gathering the dry ingredients from the pantry and cupboard, you put them on the counter. You then go to the refrigerator to get the oat milk.
Putting the oat milk down on the counter with the other ingredients, you squat down to get a pot.
As there is some clattering and clanking, you hear Steven’s voice breaking through from the living room. “Is everything alright, love?”
Wincing at how much noise you made, you instantly recover. “I’m alright, just putting away some of the dishes in the rack.”
There’s a pause. You almost think Steven didn’t heat you and were ready to repeat yourself when Steven answers. “You don’t need to do that now. It’s movie night… though if you insist, let me help you.”
“No!!!” You exclaimed. “I mean… No need to worry. I’m almost done. You just sit and I’ll be there soon, my sweet boyfriend.”
You then set the pan on the stove, setting up the proper heat that the recipe called you for. After a few minutes, you add the oat milk, maple syrup, and cocoa powder to whisk the dark chocolate and peppermint extract until it mixes nicely.
Excited to share this sweet holiday classic with your boyfriend, you turn off the stove and go to the cupboard to retrieve two glass mugs.
Once you top the sweet drink with whipped cream and marshmallows (all appropriate with Steven’s vegan diet), you pick it up and are going to take it to him (before starting your own), when you hear a shatter hit the floor.
Still holding the handle of the mug, you look down to find the bottom of the glass mug as well as the contents within it all over the grounds.
Footsteps draw closer and it isn’t long before Steven enters the kitchen. His face etched with concern before meeting your own. Before you can say anything else, Steven walks up to (making sure to avoid the bottom of the mug and its spilled contents. He then takes the mug gently from your hand. Putting it onto the table before taking your face into his hands, carefully looking over.
“Are you okay, my love?” He finally asks. “Did you hurt yourself?”
You shake your head. “ I didn’t but I did ruin my surprise for you. I want to show you this recipe for vegan hot chocolate that I found but…”
The rest of the words you were about to say die on your lips as Steven’s warmth enveloped your body.

When I feel my lovely girlfriend starting to calm down, I know it’s time to let my piece in.
“Love,” I start. “You didn’t ruin anything. I’m still surprised and happy that you went through all this trouble to make a hot chocolate that goes along with my dietary restrictions. I just don’t want it to be at the expense of you hurting yourself. If you had, I'd never forgive myself and…”
The pout on your face stops him from saying the rest of what he was going to say. He doesn’t want you to feel guilty about something that was an accident. Instead, he just needs to reassure you that all is well because you are okay and you are the most important person in the world to him.”
Steven gently takes your hands into his own before bringing them up to his mouth and pressing a gentle kiss on them. “How about you let me clean this up and we can make another batch of hot chocolate for both of us to have, yeah?”
You frown at him. “But baby, it’s my mess and…”
“Nonsense,” Steven interjected. “My mess is your mess and so forth. So, let’s get to it.”

Sometime later….
The two of you are back in the living room as you were before. Only this time, a different movie (A Charlie Brown Christmas) plays and the two of you are drinking hot chocolate from white ceramic mugs.
“Ahhh…” Steven exhales. “This is more like it, isn’t it love?”
You nod, blushing and giggling as you look down at your steaming cup of chocolatey goodness. “Have I told you how much I love you recently?”
Steven looks at you, a dreamy smile in his eyes. “Yes, but I wouldn’t mind hearing you say it once more.”
You giggled before pressing a kiss to his lips. Tasting the peppermint and chocolate on his lips before both of you turn your attention to the telly.
