Hestia sat at her sister’s side with Demeter’s hand clasped in her lap, looking into the flames of the Olympus hearth. The goddess of the flame had expected Demeter to be upset after this evening below. Whatever the reason that had been given.
After those words, she squeezed her sister’s hands and stayed quiet as she tried to form the right words to comfort. Hestia felt it was difficult to know what to say when she had no experience of romantic love. She could not fully understand Kore. At least she believed that she couldn’t.
“I do not think that you were a bad mother, my dear. You did everything you could to make her happy. To protect her. Though these are perhaps things that you should ask her.” She first encourages, hoping that this will be the dawn of a time where the two can now communicate with one another. For the sake of them both, but Demeter in particular. “From my perception, people will do a lot of things for love. Maybe she feared that you would not let her.”
This is just what she thought. Aphrodite was proof that love had immense strength. There were tales of many who would kill, run, or die, for love. Hestia knew she herself would sacrifice her own happiness for that of her family.
