Beta readers wanted
For my next two short stories, as well as Bound by honor, I’m looking for five Beta readers who have the time, energy and enthusiasm to proofread, critic and help me improve my writing.
What do you need to do?
Send me a message with the following information:
Your preferred contact name
Your age (My work features explicit content)
A way to reach out to you like an email address (I will need to send you the .doc files)
Your strength and weaknesses as a beta reader.
What am I expecting of you?
Honesty (I need to be able to count on you, I need you to tell me what works and what doesn’t work in the story.)
Trust (You can’t upload any of the chapters that I send you or show them to anyone else. I need to be able to trust you on that.)
Response (You will have one week to get back to me with your thoughts, ideas, and feedback.)
How do I beta read and how will I know what to look for?
I’m looking for honest opinions and reactions. Are there parts in the story that made you go:
Urgh. (I really dislike this)
ooh! (This is interesting, what’s gonna happen?)
The hell? (What’s going on?)
That doesn’t make sense...
Why?! (Emotional moment, what did you feel and why?)
YES! (I love this part!)
Eh... (You’re bored for any reason.)
Called it. (You knew something was coming before the story revealed it.)
Uh uh, yeah yeah, I get it. (You’ve explained this, move on.)
Basically, Beta reading is just reading. But it’s reading with a specific intent. You’re the first person who gets to read a story, a story that you can help improve and shape. Of course, you’ll also be asked to watch out for spelling and grammar, but more importantly, you’re there to help with story elements and flow. To let the writer know, you did this well, you screwed this up and here's how I think you can fix it. If this sounds like something you’d like to do?

What if you want to quit at any given time?
Just send me a message, you don’t have to explain yourself and it’s okay if you simply lost interest or don’t have the time or energy to beta read. Simply send me a message and I will remove you from the Beta list, no questions asked. If you do want to disclose your reason, please do so, but if you don’t, no hard feelings.
