Do any we have any writer that can relate with this ?
Writers!
One thing I've learned from reading manuscripts is that every writer has a different strength.
Some write unforgettable dialogue. Some build incredible worlds. Some know exactly how to make a reader feel something.
What's the part of writing that comes most naturally to you?
Writers
What's one thing in your favorite book that would make you immediately stop reading if it happened in real life?
I'll go first: "If he growled possessively and called me 'little one,' I'd be filing a restraining order, not falling in love."
Drop your answer below. I'm genuinely curious how many fictional tropes we'd actually survive in reality.
Looking for a Beta Reader
Name: Legacies
Fandom: Disney Descendants
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
TW: Minor child abuse
Status: Chapters 1-9 are posted, 10 is being written
Length: Currently at 23k and counting (it will be a longfic, I'm not even halfway done)
Exact request: Grammar check, pacing, overall writing style opinion. I know some people charge for this but I don't have the money for it. I've never done it before but I could try to beta in return or some other reasonable task.
Ships: Ben/Ma, Ben/Audrey Rose (Disney: Descendants), Chad Charming/Audrey Rose (Disney), Aziz/Jordan (Disney: Descendants), Doug/Evie (Disney: Descendants), Original Character(s)/Original Character(s)
Synopsis:
Twenty years ago, King Adam and Queen Belle united not only in marriage but also the kingdoms to form Auradon. Along with this, High King Adam created an isle, a prison for the worst of the worst called the "Isle of the Lost". He placed all of the evil twisted souls there, even bringing back some of them to life since "Death was too good for villains".
In present day Auradon, Crown Prince Benjamin has taken plight on the children of the villains and along with Princess Sofie White works towards giving them a chance to live in Auradon to atone for all the wrong done to them.
On the other side of things, Malice is ordered by her mother Maleficent to, along with her gang, the Core Four, accept their invitation to Auradon and steal Fairy Godmother's wand. Malice, in fear of disappointing her mother, does her utmost to fulfill her wish to take over the world but the completely new environment of Auradon fills her with doubt at every turn.
Will the Core Four manage to steal the wand? Will Benjamin's wish come true? And why do Malice and Benjamin dream of each other?
(I'd recommend you read "Isle of the Lost" by Melissa de la Cruz since I'll make a lot of references to it)
Extra details: Irregular updates, it's also has singing moments like most disney movies

Realizing you asked the wrong questions during a beta read is a huge milestone! 💡
Authors: If you could re-do your first beta read, what’s the ONE question you wish you’d asked? Where they got bored, confused, or fell in love?

Opinion: The scariest part of writing isn't starting Chapter 1. It’s deciding what to do 5 minutes after you finish the first draft.
Do you lock it away to cool off, attack it with a red pen instantly, or pass the torch to brave beta readers?
Let me know how you handle that post-draft phase!
Authors!
Hey writers! Once you type "The End" on a first draft, what’s your immediate next step?
Diving straight into a self-edit? 📝
Stepping away to let it breathe? ☕
Sending it out to beta readers? 📚
I'm curious. What does your post-draft routine look like? 👇
