Recently i realized that as a child i always subconciously loved the fact that Winx's "The Perfect Date" criticized Gender Roles and made them seem sort of stupid, it validated this part of me that was always criticized for seeing shows such as Winx Club because they're "for girls" and therefore i shouldn't be watching them.
As a young adult (?) i also love the fact the shows criticizes gender roles through a "Show don't Tell" approach instead of the other way around, in my opinion it helps the message land better because it lets us as an audience make our own conclusions based on what we see being portrayed in the show, making us as an audience more receptive to what the episode criticizes, it also helps that the situation happens to the main characters, the people we are supposed to connect and empatize with, it helps to prevent otherism and promotes us to invest ourself in the message the episode makes.
