“Excuse me, Captain, Admiral Picard wishes for your technical expertise in his study.” A quick glance at her glass, the little water left swishing in her rattled grasp. “Sorry, Doctor Jurati. I did not mean to startle you.”

“Heck! Elnor! You need a bell.”

Elnor frowns. “That would not be a correct accessory to this outfit. Would it help if I led with my sword, allowing a shadow to proceed me and therefore give you the necessary time to rise from the depths of your intimate thoughts?”

“Uh...”

Rios saves her from answering. “My technical expertise,” he repeats with a sigh. “He’s forgotten how to join the virtual meeting hub again, hasn’t he? Tell him it’s the big blue button that says Join.” He extracts his legs from beneath the table and stands up. “Never mind. I’ll be there in a minute,” he says to Elnor’s impassive face.

“One minute. Got it.” With a single, graceful movement, Elnor turns and immediately disappears on quick feet, back, presumably, to deliver this important update.

“Wait, kid, I don’t literally mean--”

Agnes watches the Romulan leave. “Too late,” she says.

WIP Report 1/17/2024

Because I feel like I owe you guys one, even if there's not too much to say. (I'm a wordy bitch though, I can always find plenty to say!)

I haven't made a lot of progress the last few months, unless you count on craft projects. I had some rather ambitious plans for Christmas so I ended up focusing on a lot of those instead of writing. Dry spells happen to everybody, they're nearly impossible to control, and all you can really do is wait them out, let your brain recharge. Nobody is more impatient with this process than the writer!

Indelible remains my priority, and I am making progress in tiny bits. This is one of the chapters that, in the original plan, was meant to be a brief interlude where I would gloss over a lot of things, but as the story has turned out, it needs to be more than what it was planned to be, and so it's taken me a while to kind of work out what needs to happen. Anarka is a difficult character for me and working what I need her to say is challenging and a little tedious. On the plus side, once we get past this chapter, I have more written, and I just have to connect the dots. I will say I am rethinking the ending a bit; not how it ends, but where I intended to end it. I feel like you guys are owed some closure on some things I hadn't really planned on in the beginning, and that can only really happen by going a little farther than I intended. I am determined to finish this thing this year!

I am doing the LBSC Valentine's Exchange this year; I really feel like I have committed to a lot that is still hanging out there unfinished and I want to focus on finishing those before I take on anything big, but the Valentine's exchange is small enough that I don't feel too guilty about it - and I do think that taking a break from the monsters is occasionally healthy.

I also plan to do my birthday big bang this April, so probably I'll take some prompts/requests for that in the next month or two. Those will also be fun, quick things, along with maybe a chapter of those neglected long works. I always try to get at least four or five things to post that day.

Other than that, the plan for the new year is to focus on finishing Indelible, Guard My Heart, Too Good to Be True, and getting back to Beautiful Dreams, with the occasional short, light bit thrown in for funsies. I am determined not to start any more epics until those are done!!

WIP Report - Keeping Myself Organised and Accountable! 05.01.2022

Here I am a week later, actually sticking with updating weekly! And I have progress to report!

Current WIPs:

- Follower Celebration Character Letters - Follower Celebration Moodboards - these are done! I am making the last little tweaks to one for the requester but otherwise these are all complete. Thank you to @radiowallet, @dincrypt, @pintsizemama and @she-devil-jones for being so supportive and positive while I made these! Thank you all for the lovely feedback and I hope you enjoy!

(these two are my biggest priority at the moment! I haven’t forgotten any of you and I love all the requests and ideas. Life just decided to happen A LOT in December!)

- Christmas Writing Challenge

(I’ve written and posted a week of these and I would like to finish it, though it is going to bleed into January. But hey, better late than never!)

- A Sound Only You Can Hear Part 7

(Need to get some ideas, planning and notes down for this)

Also, I need to reorganise and update my Masterlist (eg some of my Christmas Writing Challenge pieces belong to universes I have written before so need to be cross posted to universe masterlists that don’t exist yet!).

In addition, I also need to give @thesofterside some much needed TLC and updating, which is also on my to do list!

Working on a life sized African Wild Dog just for me and the toe beans are going to be attached as a little plastic plate in the bottom of the feet. The sculpt came out really nice, though I had a bit of trickiness using resin dye in casting and it coming out sticky. (Needs better mixing?) Hoping to post pics of the full assembled dog skeleton soon once the joint placements are finalized. 👀

Hey!! I saw your post about your WIPs, and uh, what are they???

Hey there Nonnie!! Thanks for asking about them :D I’ve had most of them for over a year now sitting on the backburner, and I think this is the year to let them all out??? MAYBE?!

Anyone interested in any of these bad boys?

One Shot:

1. Best (Wo)Man - an AU Emma is Killian’s best man, but that goes up in flames. As of now planned as a one-shot, but could move to a two or three.

2. Buy You a Drink - probably an AU or missing scene/canon divergence, a prompt @rouhn sent a decade ago, slightly drunk flirty CS opening up to one another

3. Save Me - an AU prompt where Emma’s life is in danger and Killian has to rescue her…as you can see, there’s a lot here.

4. Untitled - an AU where CS works in a hotel. Emma is the manager and Killian is that rascal employee that just gets under her skin. But what happens when they have to close the Inn because of a snowstorm leaving them stranded alone. We have enemies to friends to lovers mutual pining forced bed sharing saucy times!

MCs:

1. The Bodyguard (working title) - an AU somewhat based off the movie (same title). Emma is a movie star, however, now a fan is taking things too far, and she and her family need protection. In comes, Killian Jones, once proud bodyguard, taking whatever jobs he can get. Reluctantly, Killian vows to protect the pop star and perhaps will learn there’s more to her than what meets the eye. 

2. Untitled - a Boxing AU. Killian is a famous actor with a bit of a rep and his next role as an up incoming boxer, too bad he doesn’t know a lick about boxing. Emma Swan just so happens to run a boxing academy and needs to stay focused for her next fight if she is going to be able to save the gym that saved her. What happens when both realize there’s more to the other outside of the ring?

The Struggle is Real

I feel like I owe you guys a huge apology for leaving you on a cliffhanger so long. The last few months have just been wild in real life, and just when I thought we were past all the chaos, our senior dog began to decline. She was eighteen based on her estimated age when we adopted her, so we knew our time was limited, but you're never really prepared for it. I just...haven't been doing well since she passed. Of course I miss her, but I think there's more to it than that; this is the first year both my kids are in school full time, so I was already kind of in a time of big change, and now here I am during the day for the first time in ten years with no one, not even my little floof, to look after and take care of. I've struggled with anxiety and depression since I was a teenager so I feel like there is more going on here than just grief (though there is plenty of that, she was the best dog, gave us a wonderful ten years, and we love her immensely). It just doesn't take much to send my brain chemicals out of whack.

Anyway, I'm not okay but at the same time I'm fine, I'm not in a horrible crisis or anything. I've talked to my husband about it, I see a counselor every couple of weeks and I take medication. (Let me take this opportunity to tell anyone who needs to hear it that suffering is not a foregone conclusion, you can seek help, and keep seeking it if the help you find the first time doesn't work out for you. It's a process, not an instant solution, but you're not doomed to suffer forever, nor is there honor in suffering for no reason. You are worthy of the work it takes to feel better.) I will get better eventually; I might have to adjust my meds, I might have to work out some strategies with my counselor, but I'll get back on balance eventually.

However, until I do, everything is harder than it should be, and my effort has to be focused on my family and my home first. So far my coping strategy has been crafting like a maniac. Maybe I can't control the rest of it but by God I can knit the cutest baby sweater you've ever seen for the new niece that's not even due till next year. 😂

Anyway, I know I don't owe anybody an explanation about all this, but I think I needed to say it, because sometimes pretending I'm okay is really rough and just admitting that I'm not can help. But, that is why I'm not leaving so many comments, not putting much in my reblog tags right now, and not getting any writing done.

Just wanted to put out there that I'm alive 😂 There's a lot going on right now behind the scenes at Chez Quick and my brain's been too overloaded to focus on writing much, but I have hope that things will settle out in a few weeks now that school is starting. I've already started thinking out some plot things and once we get settled into the new routine and a few other things get sorted out I hope I will be able to get some words on the page. Thanks so much for your patience especially after leaving things on such an awful cliffhanger. 😂 I appreciate you all so much. 💜
