Happy Pride Month!
Have a soft sculpture of a Hoary Bat that I finally finished, he is so leetol and I love him.
Life-sized Mimikyu doll! Made from scratch, out of wood, wire, burlap, and hand painted “face”. The disguise is naturally plush and squishy and he has a good weight to him.
The false head can swivel and tilt depending on wether its disguise is busted or not. He’s just looking for some love!!
A fresh batch of Christmas Creature Commissions!
First is a OC design from a game called “Creatures of Sonaria”, and the second is for someone who has always wanted to hold a koala and now has one of their very own.
Both are handmade from scratch with wire, ball joint armature, faux fur, and painted sculpted clay. Both are fully posable and OOAK.
Both extremely fun to work on and hard to let go of, but very happy to finally have them home for the holidays. :3
My first large scale artdoll project turned out so good!! A life sized female African Wild dog, she stands 23” at the shoulder and measures 47” from nose to the tip of her tail. She’s about the size of a Labrador retriever!
Made from scratch of wire, plastic ball joint armature, and a TON of faux fur stitched together to create the coat pattern, she took me several months to create. The posable skeleton underneath definitely took the most trial and error workshopping to get the flexibility results I wanted.
Even her ears can swivel and tilt for maximum poseability, and her main purpose in life is to snuggle with me on the couch while we watch Netflix. <3 (The entire creation process can be found in my Instagram story highlights for anyone interested over at witty.creatures)
Sketch up ideas for a 1920’s Art Deco pair of dolls, turning their era inspired costume designs into flashy fur patterns if I do try them at some point 👀💛🖤💛🖤
Concept draft for a new project, commissioner has an OC creature from a game called “Creatures of Sonaria” that they enjoy playing, and after looking at the screenshot I sketched out how I’m planning to adapt it to artdoll form.
It’ll definitely depend on its tail to stay upright, like the jerboa doll, trying to decide if I want to make it twisted wire in this one to keep the thinness or if I’ll just try bare armature.
Also going to try elastic posable ears like the axolotl doll had with its gills.
New baby alert!!
Very fun design to work with, the commissioner wanted a starry eyed dragon with a color palette inspired by diaphonized creatures whose skeletons are bright blue and purple visible through clear skin.
This little posable guy has been named Abba by his owner and features a flexible spine, four horns on an exposed skull head, and iridescent glitter pigment detailing.
Finally had a great chance to do a photoshoot for the jerboa I finished a couple months ago! He looked so good out in the California brush, very much like he really belonged out there.
He features a wire tail that can be posed to help him stand up just like a real jerboa does.
Bearded vulture Artdoll turned out great and just in time for renaissance faire!
His full name is Trouble With a T, and he features posable wings, limbs, and magnets in his beak and hands for thieving purposes! In the wild real life bearded vultures get their classic orange-red coloration from iron rich dirt staining their white feathers, Trouble however got his from some art quality pastels.
Decided his name is Trouble with a capital T. Loving the wing silhouette I ended up getting, excited to see him all furred and finished later tonight. 👀
Also finally got my Instagram Artdoll account up and stocked, you can find me at witty.creatures if you want to keep up with my posts there!
Working on a set of wings for the bearded vulture who got upgraded to six limbs last minute.
Wing making process so far has involved a whole ton of feather trimming to get the different shapes and sizes of feather needed since I’m a wing snob who needs anatomically correct details. 😩 At the top are the raw feathers sorted by left or right curve and quality, everything below them has been cut into that shape and size by your truly over an active vacuume hose to try and cut down how much feather dust I breathe in.
Also a shot of the head sculpt that I just finished molding and that will be cast here in a minute. He’s going to have a little magnet in the underside of his beak (and hands) so he can steal metal objects.
Working on a life sized African Wild Dog just for me and the toe beans are going to be attached as a little plastic plate in the bottom of the feet. The sculpt came out really nice, though I had a bit of trickiness using resin dye in casting and it coming out sticky. (Needs better mixing?) Hoping to post pics of the full assembled dog skeleton soon once the joint placements are finalized. 👀
Redraw of my bearded vulture creature design, the first from 2021 and the second from 2022! I touched up the design to finally make for an upcoming Ren Faire and I didn’t realize until after finishing it that the old and new design were drawn exactly one year apart from each other to the day. :)
Finally got out to take some good pictures of the boy! Made for the @anyaboz fiddlegrim artdoll challenge!
(He is a handmade soft sculpture made of painted clay, a fully posable armature, and sequin scales.)
He’s just a little guy!!
Commission gift for @ibrithir-was-here, a posable barn owl-possum art doll. (Made with wire, clay, and faux fur.)
He is just leetol creachure, he cannot change this.
Posable Barn Owl Possum artdoll, a possum that’s colored like a barn owl and has talons instead of back paws. Handmade, sculpted and painted from wire, clay, and faux fur.
The Sight Hound room guardian trio is now complete! Three gifted littermates who together can see the past, present, and the future. They are each made with faux fur, have fully posable necks and tails, and have sculpted head and limbs made of painted clay.
Grimly is the oldest and sees the past, his heart is eggshell wrapped in scarlet wool.
Shasta is the middle pup and sees the present, her heart core is spruce needles. (Morely is the youngest and sees the future, he has a seashell heart and was shown off in a previous post.)
