I’m too excited to wait so I’m gonna go ahead and show you guys the Spellcasters’ wands!

Wand lore would be the type of wood used to craft the wand + gemstone that empowers the wand, they can easily show up (like Lee Yue’s) or they’re hidden inside the wand (like Damien’s) and serves as a core!

Alternatively they have different cores..? Like fairy dust or whatever, idk I’m throwing things out and see what sticks

This serves as a discussion too, what do you guys think? What ideas do you have for wood types? What makes them unique from each other? What gemstones are perfect for dueling? Should there be other cores? Etc etc

I can’t remember where I saw this and who posted it (if it’s you, please let me know!) but I read a post either here or on ig from a southern or Florida witch who used an alligator foot backscratcher as a wand. I finally found mine from many years back and will be repurposing it. I’m sorry to say I don’t know if it was ethically sourced because when I was young I didn’t even know to question that, but I have it and any damage has already been done so I’m going to do my best to honor the gator it came from.

Wizarding World Wands

Pre-Pandemic, we normally hold a super fantastical annual Hogwarts Feast; a night of full authentic Wizarding World decorations, food, activities, and wand ceremony. I will post more about the various aspects of The Feast later, but today, let me show you some handmade wants. Here are some finished wands: Remember, the wand chooses the wizard! 

I love making things that look great and are functional (as functional as a magical want can be, for a muggle at least) an out of inexpensive or household material that I already have. I like to keep sustainability in mind when possible. These wands begin as either small wooden dowels or wooden chopsticks, then covered in hot glue, beads, wire, ribbon, etc. Some of these were made by me, some with the Ravenclaw Prefect Ashton. Here are some naked ones:

Next, they are painted in various layers and colors. Here are some in the process of painting: 

Finishing touches are done for final details, then they are clear coated so they will last a long time. I stain paper and make tags that only go on after the wizard or witch picks their wand. Here are the finished products from the very first Hogwarts Feast

Journal Entry 1

I consecrated my wand tonight with a couple bind runes and Nyx’s blessing symbol, finishing it with the consecration oil. One of the bind runes isn’t activated yet, but that’s what I’m about to do.

As I was seeing how another wand that I made would feel in my hand, I decided to do an invoking pentacle and a vanishing pentacle with each, just to see how it felt.

When I sat the other want down and picked my newly consecrated wand up, my hand got hot. Like it was heating up exactly where I held the wand. I did the pentacles, and then sat it back down on the altar. I thought maybe the heat was imagined, or that maybe my hand was just hot. I decided to test a theory.

I picked up the other wand, held it for a second, then sat it down, immediately picking up the consecrated one. My hand got hot again. I sat it down and picked up the other one. Nothing. I picked up the consecrated one. Heat.

My best guess is that the energy of it is warming my hand, although it could be something else. I’m not sure. It could be one of the gods. Either way it goes, I know for a fact that this is the wand I’m going to use forever. After that, I feel a deep connection with it.
