I don't know if magic is a one way ticket south. Ruby went to hell but we also don't know what she did with her magic. James seems to be a great guy. But can a witch get into heaven? What about a familiar? Or would they both end up in Purgatory, not necessarily evil but not allowed in heaven which is reserved for humans and angels?
