Some Sentences Sunday
Tagged by @elveny and @kunstpause with some spicy Sunday snippets, and @barbex, with some heavy angst. All I’ve got is this...decidedly less spicy, but @funkypoacher saw that list of the Worst (Best?) prompts and challenged me to a “funeral home meet-cute” for Morrigan and Alistair (which is honestly perfect for them, the more I get into it...). This is set in the same “modern Wal-Mart parking lot AU” I used and fell in love with for the DA2 crew prompt a few weeks ago, but perhaps a few years earlier. And also, there’s zombies...
“What?” the young woman sitting at the desk asked, sounding annoyed that anyone had dared to bother her as she scrolled through her phone. She was young, almost as young as Alistair, early 20s at the oldest, he thought, though she seemed to be wearing lots of dark eye makeup to try and hide the fact, unsuccessfully.
“Yes, er...we were wondering about making some arrangements. For a friend. Who died recently in the...well, the zombies?” He nodded toward Ostagar, but she just stared back at him, unimpressed.
“He was a fairly important person.” Solona chimed in. “Do you have a discount for that?”
“Sol…” Alistair groaned, shaking his head.
“Ah, yes.” There was a hint of something in her face. Amusement? Intrigue? Disdain? Anything was better than the cold, dull stare she’d been giving them up until this point. It at least proved she wasn’t one of the undead. “The ‘fairly important person’ discount...let me just look that one up.”
She kept her golden eyes fixed intently on them, a tiny hint of half of a smirk as she smashed the keys of a dusty yellowed keyboard that didn’t appear to actually be connected to anything. “Oh, how strange. It seems that was only for a limited time. As in, while the person was still alive. And thus, still important.”
Solona seemed to consider this for a moment. “Huh.” Then she shrugged, looking up at Alistair. “I mean, we tried, right?”
“Anyway," Alistair continued. "His body is currently…”
“Dismembered,” Solona interjected, nodding emphatically.
Tagging forward to @funkypoacher (in case that wasn’t clear...give me some more of that good blithesome shit), @serial-chillr, @parera-zuul-jar, @factorykat, @charlatron, @johaeryslavellan, @pinkfadespirit, @lostinfantasies38, @cartadwarfwithaheartofgold, @dafan7711, @wardenari, @zuendwinkel (I love seeing/hearing about what you’re working on art-wise, so just do whatever you want with this tag, lol!) and anyone else who wants to share some snippets today!
