She lost her arm during a fight with a human previous to Frisk. Alphys built her a robotic one, but it hasn't handled Waterfall's damp environment well, so it's rusty.

Can you do Cross and Horror for the ‘using their datemate as hostage’ ask?

Absolutely!

Cross, ever the guard and stoic dude he is, follows from afar. Not noticeable, but tracking every movement your kidnapper makes. His colouration doesn't quite always help him to fit into his surroundings, but still manages to get relatively close. The only warning your kidnapper will get is the angry wail-hiss that petrifies all people before the kidnapper has been cut in half and you're hoisted up into Cross' arms.

Horror is hunting them down. Immediately. He doesn't care- he knows he's faster than your kidnapper, so in all reality, they never really stood a chance. He's an intimidating figure- larger and stronger than his other counterparts.

And a lot more feral.

Taking Horror's mate is worse than a death wish. He'll tear your kidnapper apart piece by piece until they're barely hanging onto life and then and only then will he apply his withering magic and let them die.

On a scale of “feasible with some minor dismemberment” to “Will require too many respawns to be worth it” are the Witherborn boys dateable as a human?

Depends entirely on who you're talking about!

Really depends on just how devoted you are to them, because they do remember scents and SOUL frequencies, so they'll know it's you.

Classic is probably "run for your life a couple times but you'll get away mostly without injury"

Red is probably "yeah you could do it- just expected to be attacked a couple times (I hope you have netherite gear and some pretty damn strong shields and God Apples if you want to live though)"

Dust is very likely closer to the whole "you will die several times, but eventually he'll just get tired of it and let you hang around (aka, he likes you)"

Nightmare, though, is very near the edge of "Will require too many respawns to be worth it."

So is Error and also likely Killer, but everyone's worth it if you hang around for long enough.

Info about Witherborn under the cut

Witherborn are a primarily landborn species that reside in the Nether Realm. They are often territorial and possess a kind of unusual, fear-inducing aura to any species that may get too close to them– even if the Witherborn shows no sign of violence.

They are mainly known for their intimidating height (averaging around 9’8”) and their very long, incredibly sharp tails with edges poking up like daggers. They’re essentially an extension of the Witherborn’s spine and look as such. Their claws and feet are as sharp as knives. Their teeth, often hidden and appearing as if they are flat, are about as sharp as a razor.

Witherborn mostly wear baggy pants and a cloak/cape with golden accessories here and there. Their most prominent decoration is the skull of whatever they primarily hunt that sits on their shoulder. What they hunt may not be their food source, but simply sort of like a game.

Under their sockets, two slits may sit. These are actually eyes and open up when the Witherborn is feeling aggressive.

Their senses are impressive, too– and like a Polar Bear, if you see them on the horizon, it’s likely they’ve been tracking you long enough to premeditate the hundreds of ways they could shred, rip, sever and tear your fragile body to pieces.

One of their species, most commonly used abilities is that of levitation.

This is often seen when they "perch" on their tail when they are in a relaxed state.

How about someone using their datemate as hostage to get around the nether? Like a sword to their neck or something.

Classic is. . . usually just a chill guy. Doesn't really lash out, not super territorial, but if you're in danger? This silly guy is pissed. The fact that your life is on the line worries him, sure, but he's hell of a lot faster than any measly human. He probably waits until the kidnapper is near their nether portal and then he strikes. I'd imagine there's quite the bloodbath.

Red is immediately pissed off. His keen senses pick up on the panic and worry radiating from your SOUL and he tracks you down instantly. If you're being actively threatened at that point he may silently stay in his festering rage for a bit until he sees an opening. The kidnapper dies, and you're going to have trouble leaving him for at least a day.

Dust is elusive- far more sneaky than any other out there- so he'll be right behind your kidnapper before anyone realises it. It's an absolute bloodbath, and Dust will keep them alive long enough to feel their limbs burning off from the lava he slowly dunks them into.

Killer is a sneaky little shit. Key words being: Little Shit. He'll probably turn up all nice and curious and non-threatening until your kidnapper turns their back and suddenly, they find themselves launched into a pit of lava.

Hello! Hope your day is going well!

This can be for either your Wither boys or the Avian boys, but in either case, if their partner was human there might be decent gaps in when they see each other again. (If I understand right, the Withers would typically prefer to stay in the Nether and the Avains have duties to preform for their flock.)

How would they react when they see their partner again? If they get lonely or miss them, how do they deal with it?

I'll be answering this. . . semi-vaguely. Not super in depth but enough to give you a general understanding of how they'd feel.

With Witherborn, it's not always that they don't want to leave the Nether- it's usually that they can't. Unless they were initially summoned in the overworld, they will suffer extreme pain and burns from any form of water that touches them outside of the nether. Which means snow, water, ice, vapour, etc.

If they were summoned outside of it, that means they have this funky lil' ability to sort of "switch" between a more. . . skeleton-like creature and their usual witherborn self. Some even get human disguises.

Now, Witherborn are usually solitary creatures- save for a mate (or mates- it's not uncommon for them to have poly relationships) and maybe a couple kids.

But if that mate weren't to always be around, they would probably feel loneliness for the first time in their lives.

Killer, Error, Classic, Dream, and Swap are especially bad when it comes to missing their s/o. This does mean they will smother you in affection (in their own ways, as Error is still haphephobic here) as soon as you return.

Others like Nightmare, Horror, Fresh, Cross, Ink (who is a platonic mate) and Epic can go a bit longer without feeling too lonely, though they will still very muchly relish in your return and likely "kidnap" you for a while.

Dust, believe it or not, can actually go the longest without missing you. He'll still definitely remember you (and perhaps spiral down the thought process of "oh fuck did I do something wrong are they leaving me? are they even coming back?") but he isn't... overly lonely. He's used to being alone. He's been alone for a long while, after all- but whenever he's around others, they'll always comment that it seems as if he's missing someone. He always stands a bit to the side of the room as if he's making space for another someone to be. He doesn't get so much as lonely as he does melancholy and a bit bittersweet. When you return he'll be happy, but you won't notice too much more affection from him.

Make no mistake, he's definitely happy to have you back though.

I'm going to be fully honest, I dearly love Witherborn (And Original) Dust. He's such a silly guy.

Dust, usually, is very very reserved and more of an observer than anything else

And when he does like someone, it comes off as hatred because for once in his life he's experiencing emotions that he never has before

Which means he's going to be glaring at you as he desperately fights and strangles the emotions inside of him

He's a pathetic pretty boy that would rather forgo his lava invulnerability and jump into the ocean of fire sitting at the edge of his territory than admit he gives a fuck

But you'll find out anyway eventually

One of his favourite things to do is simply come up behind you and wrap some part of him around you.

It can be an arm, or it could be his tail

He likes to walk with you places- it calms his urge to hunt and prowl and pace

He loves smooches. A lot. But you won't ever here him say so

He also likes to hold hands with you a lot
