I admire your keeping it cool. I called my best friend in middle of work day to cry. I was so stressed. When you take into account my actual team plus contractors, I manage over 15 ppl but have no real support. Also, I have a long term contractor who has lied on me to my boss, makes snide remarks (with a smile of course) about me in front of the rest of my team, and also has literally tried to throw me under the bus on other calls. I’m furious. I am close to telling my boss I quit.

Rather than quitting perhaps bring a few suggestions for what you need (support staff!) to your boss and ask them what steps they're going to take to provide you with support you need?
