Just before leaving for the date, Orrin almost habitually grabs Ari’s jacket. It’s not cold out, and honestly he doesn’t really feel the cold anyway but leaving it behind feels... like a betrayal, like letting go of the person who meant the most to him in the entire world- but wouldn’t taking it with him be worse? Ari made his choices and Ari was the one who let himself succomb to the monster after all.

He takes a deep breath and leaves the jacket behind, safe on his dorm bed for when he returns, but hopefully leaving his heartache and memories behind for a while as well.

Orrin’s having some vivid anxiety about how his date might go. He will not accidentally eat the cute upperclassmen boy. He tells himself, he will not accidentally eat the- ughhh why does he feel like crying? this is stupid. He shoves his hat on tighter on his head and stuffs his hands in his pockets and trudges determindly out the door of his dorm, kicking it shut behind him with a soft but final thud. He will not accidentally eat the cute upperclassmen boy.

Orrin agreed to go on a date with a cute upperclassmen boy, but is now nervous about it and is trying to hype himself up in his dormroom mirror (the whole vampires not showing up in mirrors thing is a myth) before heading out on his date.

The idea of dating anyone makes his stomach hurt and he tries not to think about the ache of memories. He deserves to be happy and have fun he tells himself, not quite believing it.

Orrin appears to be a rather approachable middleclassman so new students are always asking him for directions to class, help on their homework, and that kind of thing. He feels a little uncomfortable with it because he can’t help but think about how scared of him they would be if they knew what he really was, but he tries his best to hide it his discomfort and help them out.

He’s often late to class himself because he’ll get distracted helping a first year find their class or the infirmary or something. Some of the teachers and his fellow classmates see him as a little bit of a slacker, but it’s not that he doesn’t care, it’s just that sunlight makes him very lethargic so he’s prone to being a little absent minded or napping in class by accident especially around bright clear full moons when there’s sunlight being reflected even throughout the night.

Keeping his monsterous side in check is always a constant battle of will and discipline for Orrin. If he ever forgets to keep his powers subdued, his preditor instincts will take over and he’ll find himself accidentally enthralling humans with the urge to drain their blood to sustain himself. He is terrified of this ever happening because of how he watched his lover die, so he is careful not to let control of his powers ever slip and allow the monster to take over.

If he makes eye contact with anyone too long he accidentally casts a thrall on un-psychically protected humans which makes them docile and easy prey. Therefore Orrin tries not to look anyone directly in the eye for more than a few moments, giving him the appearance of being somewhat nervous or shy, even though he can actually be very assertive when he feels safe or comfortable letting his guard down.

The sun makes his monsterous side weaker and allows his human nature more control, but as the monster is what drives his undead body and his powers, Orrin becomes weakened, letharic, and basically powerless in direct sunlight.

When the sunlight cannot reach him, such as when there is no moon or simply complete darkness, Orrin’s powers become stronger and his monsterous side attempts to take control.
