Linda sat on the porch of her sisters house, looking out over the quiet street. It was still, the Ohio dusk falling heavy as velvet over the old houses, settling thick and purple on rooftops.

Lightning bugs flickered over the sidewalk, under the spreading branches of trees. It was warm; humidity was high in July and the air held the perfume of flowers blooming along the porch rail.

She had come out here for a bit of quiet, she told herself, raucous laughter from the kitchen coming through the window screen. It was good to hear some laughter these days, even as one laugh stood out more sharply to her than the rest.

The Wizard Heir Review

The Wizard Heir by Cinda Williams Chima is a 416 page YA Fantasy. It's the second book of The Heir Chronicles series, and a review of book one can be found here. This book has been read in Dutch. This was also my April 'Book of the Month’.

When Seph sets fire to a warehouse in Toronto, he is forced to changed school for the countless time. His caretakers are aproached by Gregory Leicester, the headmaster of the Havens; an all boys school. What he finds outs will turn his world around. Tortured by the headmaster for refusal, seeking refuge with another unwilling, and many more obsticles are in his way. Will he able to leace the school? or will he joing Leicester in his plan?

I rate this book 4/5 stars, because while I greatly enjoyed reading it and I wasn't able to put the book down, it felt boring at some points.

As said above I enjoyed the book. The plot overall is very intreguing and the cliffhangers do their work. They get under my skin and I really want to continue. In chapter 10 people from the first book returned and that made me really hyped. But somehow it feels like this book is more part 1 and The Warrior Heir is a prequel, a set up to this story. When it comes to characters I'm devided. I really like Joseph and the mystery that surrounds him, but he is not my favorite; that honor goes to Jason, he is the most consistent of all of them. My dyslexia was really annoying and it made me read 'Seph' as 'Steph', while this isn't a big difference it was still frustrating. Eventually I overcame this fact. Another drawback is the same one I discussed in the review of Warrior Heir, the long chapters.

Book 2 was even better then book 1 looking forward to book 3. Love having access to online library. Book 2 takes place just few months after warrior heir but new characters that evtually mesh with previous characters and the next step in a new peace maybe?
