Reminder for nonhumans: quadrobics is not an easy or common thing to do & you do not need to feel bad about not being able to do it.

If you wanna do it- GREAT!! I believe in you, but please don’t beat yourself up for not being able to do it immediately; you really need to build strength and muscle up first

Quadrobics is an extremely difficult workout that combines calisthenics & aerobics- most folk I see doing this with “ease” are very slim & don’t carry much weight on their bones. This makes quadrobics much easier to work towards and perfect as they dont have to lift as much weight

And I need more of my older & heavier weight nonhuman peers to comprehend that.

I need more of us to comprehend & internalize that quadrobics is a complex exercise that requires a lot of physical strength; one that most bodies have to take time to build up to.

If you’re not gonna beat yourself up for not being able to easily lift 150 lbs first try- don’t beat yourself up for quadrobics taking time. And additionally- be nice to your body for its reasonable limits! Not being able to walk on all 4’s doesn’t mean your body is bad; it just means it’s different

Remember that as the cool awesome world continues to be complicated n weird going forward- we have to have each others backs as therian, otherkin, nonhuman, alterhumans- all the sort

This includes but is not limited to:

- defending someone’s right to alterhumanity & expression even if they’re a shitty guy

- making sure every alterhuman is treated fairly & justly even if they’re a shitty guy

- upholding standards of kindness & willingness to communicate in the community even when the discussion is weird n complicated

- upholding standards of safety for youth, animals, and the disabled in the face of danger or possible abuse

- making sure every alterhuman gets to have their own space as an alterhuman, for whatever reason they need

- being willing to defend alterhumans who are different from you; especially in the face of fascism & targeted hate

Who is they? They are us.

In the eyes of fascism, “they” will always come back to being “you”

Yknow I’m still a very big “do it yourself” kind of person

“Do it yourself” in the sense that if you’re wanting to see change in a community you need to bring it. “Do it yourself” in the sense that you have autonomy to post & create & forcibly make space for yourself, so you should. Especially in spaces that are meant for you

And while that doesn’t change within me

I do think the statement exists alongside “but you shouldn’t have to be doing it alone”; and i dont think I’ve acknowledged that enough

I think that I am very used to having to do quite a bit on my own & for myself. I’ve lived a lot of my life seeing things be like other folk & not like me; so I’ve been very alienated; I’ve been very alone.

Especially in my own communities, where im somehow always too queer, too complicated, or too different.

And I think, in hindsight, previously I liked the “do it yourself” mantra because it’s really the only choice I had for my problems in certain instances.

For example, im fat. And that’s a problem; mostly a problem other people have with me- but sometimes also just a problem for me.

And because of how society treats fatness, all of the problems I have & all of the problems people have with me- are all somehow my fault.

Granted, not everyone is a raging fatphobic loser who hates having to look at me in a critical lens. But not everyone has to be telling me I’m unhealthy for existing for them to still alienate me & make it clear that I dont belong.

Therians & Otherkin aren’t exactly spaces loving or accepting of fatness; both are spaces that really love to ignore the concept all together until they HAVE to acknowledge it for a moment. And most of the time, the acknowledgment is someone fat disliking that they’re fat; or it’s talking around fatness about “the perfect body” which just so happens to never ever be fat or described as such; fat is still a dirty word here

And that’s weird & alienating.

But regardless, I do silly “fat fuck Friday” things for myself. Even if I don’t always post, but I always do fat fuck Friday things for me. Cause no one else will

Im doing the whole “do it yourself” thing I praise, and I have been for a long time. But that still doesn’t mean I should be doing it alone. And it still doesn’t mean that doing it myself is entirely without pain

In the most simple but unfortunately edgy sounding way- I think I sort of just got used to it & desensitized to the difficulty around it. But I shouldn’t have ever had to; No one should

This goes far beyond fatness ofc; it’s also to do with gender, sex, queerness, race, physical therians/otherkin, mental health, beliefs & practices- etc etc.

But I’ve been yapping for way too long, and despite my best efforts I can’t really find a happy or pleasant way to end the post. So thats just it

I remember someone mentioning it, don’t remember who- but I saw someone say that this community (therian, otherkin, alterhuman etc) just posts the same things over & over again

And that really struck a chord with me cause they were super right

This community is almost on a loop; I’ve been here for a short time but the posts patterns I see just repeat- over and over

And I wanna help change that, im not sure how to just yet- but I want to help change that

Im thinking about a drag scene I know, far from where I live, where they organize shows & events & take extra care in acknowledging the land they’re on & take extra care in uplifting the voices and art of Drag Performers of Color

And thats become a really important concept to me over the past few years as ive grown

I think id really like to do that for the alterhuman community, or ig more specifically for therians & otherkin. But im not sure what sort of community events to aim for

I know I still want to do regular zines- I’ve actually been working pretty hard to set up a zine discord & working to set up TOS & community special things- it’s honestly lowkey becoming more of a community led magazine concept as opposed to the traditional community zines. But I digress

Outside of zines, im thinking about how I could hold contests worth while- or maybe try to organize an online con someday if I get the layouts & time ironed out

And I’ve been writing up modern fairy tales to start posting someday; modern fairy tales for modern wonder and whimsy and hope- but idk if that’s a community thing sm as it is a me wanting to connect w/ others thing

So Idk

Idk what I’ll do yet

But I know I want to do something. I dont feel comfortable doing nothing

Yknow i comprehend that a lot of my identity could be classified as fictionfickering & therioflickering, or just generally be labeled as “flickering”

But I don’t personally enjoy using the label or term at this point in my life, it doesn’t really resonate with me like just saying “hey im [blank]” or “I am a [blank]” does. Even if those “I am” statements wont apply forever

And I think that’s ok, im not making new labels that obscure or distract from a “common” term that describes what I experience.

And I think that’s something more of us should do!

Like it’s important to me that you guys remember & know that its ok to not use a label if you don’t resonate with it; it’s ok to exist as your own lil thing

Yknow “therian masks” & fursuit heads are very cool & I would love to have both. The most available & affordable one is ofc the mask! Plus it’s easier to make

I am cursed with poor vision! And have massive fucking glasses that I cannot function without!

Anyway, I may start the journey of making myself a mask, but my beautiful fat face & my glasses are going to pose a bit of a challenge. I have an old Halloween mask im considering using as a base for my big fat fucking head- but we will just have to see

Not sure what kintype I’ll do though

Unicorn is my “main” one I suppose, but wild boar are very special to me- so that’s a big contender as well
