guess who is in Empyrea yet again

something i think about a lot in terms of wizbat is how, even though it takes until the last world in arc 3 for bat and the wizard to meet, they definitely know a certain amount about the other prior to that. but i’d argue to say that what they do know is rooted in mythos or mere talk

the wizard has seen the cave paintings and heard the legends detailing this bloodsucking, shapeshifting being of shadow. they’ve bested both his brothers and worked closely with his father, so they know the stock he’s coming from. they’ve seen the citizens of zanadu run and take cover just at the mention of the terrible bat, this harbinger of doom and chaos and a surefire sign of the end times

and on the flipside, you can’t tell me he hasn’t been watching the wizard throughout polaris and mirage. keeping tabs on them and their abilities as they throw rat and scorpion bloodied and beaten to the dirt like it’s nothing. knowing that they’re going to be coming for him next. being sort of, as this primordial being, floored by just how powerful they seem to be and what it could mean for his father’s plan

so by the time they meet face to face, all this weighty and fantastic information they’ve obtained about the other has given them a preconceived notion about what they’re walking into. just for it all to be blown out of the water entirely the more they actually learn about the other

I fucking love Wizbat. I'm not even kidding (Ooo wee yes very left field opinion) What made you ship it?

Surprisingly, the game didn't make me ship it, it was all the fanart I saw about the bat on tumblr. I just looked up the bat cuz I loved the bat. The bat is so cool tehe. But oh my GOD the art was both hilarious and adorable >w<

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Huge monster bigger than me, I wanna see if I can tackle him to the ground

I believe the Bat and the Wizard to be mirrors to each other as it pertains to the Wizard's duty as the Savior of the Spiral. The espionage, the hard sacrificial decisions they have to make, the persona they have to put on. Not to mention a fundamental understanding these characters have for each other as divine beings forced into positions they may or may not want to be in.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

If you have watched CJ the X's video about the 2009 Folger's Christmas Coffee commercial, you know what I'm gonna say: The writers at kingsisle are going to heaven, WE ARE GOING TO HELL! That scene in the cave so fucking funny with the very potent sexual tension in the the stone walls while this sadomasochistic scene plays out under the guise of magical transfer of something considered evil and taboo

YES THAT SCENE WAS INCREDIBLY HORNY AND NO ONE BELIEVES ME WHEN I TELL THEM THAT SCENE IS VOICE ACTED! I WILL FIND THAT SCENE AGAIN! I WILL RECORD THE AUDIO! ALLAH CANNOT STOP ME! anyway, where my unpopular opinion comes in is that I wish to play with an even more fucked up idea that we completely misinterpreted the Bat's pleas to be hit more with our shadow magic. That his pleas are exactly what he says they are: utilitarian, nothing more than a strange and desperate method of shadow transfer (that is eventually replaced with a different, less ethical(?) method). I like the idea that the Wizard could get so desperate for connection that they end up warping this strange situation into one where they could be considered a sexy cruel master: finally they have control.
