Brendan's expression turned to a deep, hateful scowl the very moment he heard the names of the Lockhart men. Hearing anything related to them sent his anger soaring and made his fingers twitch with the urge to beat something--someone--into a bloody, unrecognisable mess. No matter what he did or where he went they seemed to haunt him like ghosts.
"Excuse me?” Brendan seethed. “I ave never been jealous o' tha' sickly little bastard or the whore he calls a husband. Why would I be?"
He didn't need to ask. He knew the answer and had already confessed it during a drunken tirade directed towards the married couple. Brendan was insanely jealous of everything that Barty had: an adoring spouse, lots of children, a luxurious home, and vast amounts of wealth. He wanted that life for himself and it hurt him more than anything that he almost achieved it once. That is, until the person he thought he’d spend forever with tossed him aside like trash in favor of an arranged marriage.
“At least I still ave my good looks, which is more than I can say for Barty. If anythin’, he should be the one jealous o’ me! And tae answer your other question, I will not be reachin’ out tae him or his husband in the future.
