Unhinged Cars or Planes Headcanon Wednesday: Doc's early history with Radiator Springs
Sorry for a short UCoP entry this week. I've got a larger one about the factories and the Manufacturers in the works, so keep your peepers peeled for that one.
I'm so busy and stressed out with irl things rn, it's hard to do anything other than just exist. Still working on WOC geology part three. Still working on MiT chapter 6. Ghost's dialogue is a NIGHTMARE to write AND I've made enough changes to his character and the circumstances that brought him to Dawsonville that I've had to rewrite--and will have to rewrite--most of what I'd already written in my first draft.
Anywho, here's some more praxcanon:
Doc moved to Radiator Springs in 1956 and enrolled as a student at the Mechanical School of Carburetor County (MSCC) that same year. He rented out an old garage next to Flo's, and would only leave to grab a bite to eat or go to class. Initially, he was afraid someone would figure out his true identity. But after a few semesters, the workload from trying to earn two degrees at the same time was so nightmarish that he rarely had time for anything other than studying and class...until a smitten Mercury coupe began stopping by after his patrols to bring him food and to check in on him.
*note* Sheriff wasn't just smitten. He was SMITTEN. Like, the a textbook example of love at first sight.
After getting his doctorate in internal combustion, Doc would exhaust the entirety of his savings--literally every cent he earned racing--to build the Ornament Valley Mechanical Clinic. Ground was broken on May 12, 1960, but construction wasn't actually completed until March 5th, 1961.
