Some theories I have:

I think the disappearance of the queens and kinkajou might have something to do with chameleon. He still has bits of the Darkstalker scroll afterall. I feel like there are only three possible options for the magic involved. It's either a new spell from the scroll, an ancient spell that is only activating now for some reason, or an enchanted object that already exists that is being used for this.

The mystery dragon that stole the egg at the end of the book might also be chamaleon (one of his shapes), but I have a couple of other options.

Analysis of some parts of the prophecy:

"Lines of blood wil hold the key" <- I think we've actually only seen stuf happen up to here. Nothing else yet.

Because I don't think "as danger threatens from the past" has been fully realised. I don't think this line is referring to Beryl and Snakeroot, so it has to be a different active danger from the past (this will be relevant later).

The hybrid prince doesn't necessarily have to be Mulberry, but I don't think we can 100% guess who it will be yet.

The first two lines from the next verse will probably be answered in the next book.

Here we go. "Unleash the tide" is a very specific phrasing. This definitely refers to the mystery dragon. And I think it specifically refers to a seawing.

There are two options I see:

Option one and the least likely, Albatross. Before dying he enchanted something and he or a version of him is still messing around being slithery and evil.

Option two and the one I like most, Waterfall. We don't know much about her, but with how much she used her magic, she could have easily skewed towards more evil later in life, and she could have done something to still be around today.

These both would fit danger threatening from the past.

The Usurper Icicle Theory

So in the wake of all (we can assume) the queens being missing it's fair to say that it leaves the thrones empty to regents. However I believe that Icicle will take over in Snowfall's absence.

It's been established that Narwhal and Tundra were bringing up Icicle to become the next icewing queen before her imprisonment. I don't think that goal is forgotten just because she's awaiting trial. The icewings have very few candidates for the throne Mink is a child and considering Snowfall's reaction they likely wouldn't put her on the throne again, Crystal has specifically shied away from taking the throne. This only leaves one heir, Icicle.

With book 16 having a heavy focus on her and Sora's history Icicle is established as a potential foil to Sora. To leave her out of the narrative wastes that potential. Her name is brought up so often for what? Her to just stay in jail?

Let's say in the chaos left in the wake of Snowfall's dissapearence Icicle manages to bargin for her freedom. Maybe someone like her brother Hailstorm takes pity on her and thinking she might be at least an ok temporary queen frees her. She is an heir they can't object to her taking the throne if there is no queen to challenge.

To throw an extra piece of information. I believe the ancient icewing queen being called Icicle is cut and dry foreshadowing. For it to be so casually mentioned and no one react. Tui wants the reader to notice that and think of Icicle.

Tui did mention we will still see her trial. I think this could be one of two things: a rigged trial where she is let off for the sake of the icewings having a leader or a trial after snowfall returns where she is punished for usurping the queen.

I think this also has really good plot potential I think having a character who is categorically an awful choice become queen opens up looks of doors for the plot. Say maybe a small rebellion is formed inside of the ice kingdom to oppose her rule. Maybe she starts a new war. Maybe she sends soliders to the dungeon isle to try and kill Sora.

Some Headcanons about Pantala because AAAASNMSKAKAMA

The mountain range of Pantala is said to be cursed because of the mysterious ruins there, which Wasp destroyed all evidence of. This is because they held the BeetleWing palace. It is generally avoided because of this and because of the extremely harsh conditions.

SilkWings can be (almost) cleanly separated into the more moth-like SilkWings (thicker build, floofier, slightly duller scales, larger wings, but smaller overall) and more butterfly-like SilkWings (slimmer, longer antennae, less flexible wings, curled claws, MUCH flashier colours).

HiveWings aren’t all descended from ClearSight: when ClearSight saved everyone, BeetleWings started trying to have dragonets with more black scales as a tribute to her. The only HiveWings really descended from ClearSight are the royal family: the idea that all HiveWings are her family is (VERY) old propaganda to make HiveWings seem superior.

LeafWings have a weaker version of RainWing photosynthesis.

I have a personal headcanon that while underwater, SeaWings use mainly ASL to communicate ideas and thoughts and that the bioluminescent flashes are there to give tone, tense, etc.

I like to think that each moon provides its own gift. Oracle makes future seers while Perception makes mindreaders. Imperial doesn't give a specific gift, but actually magnifies the gifts by the other moons if the dragon hatch under another (I believe Clearsight actually hatched under two moons, of course being Oracle and Imperial). When a NightWing hatches only under Imperial, they can get a weaker version of the powers, and maybe it leads to combined/mutated abilities like Mulberry's dragonspeak- it finds something to amplify in the absence of other moon gifts.

We know Imperial is the biggest moon. And in The Lost continent it is said that flamesilk lasts for a cycle of the smallest moon, the word month is not used so I assume that the middle size moon is the one months are based off of, and I always took it to imply that the smallest moon has the fastest cycle, and I imagine that Imperial has the longest cycle.

I like to think that the smaller/faster one is Perception. Since the Darkstalker Legends book implies that prophets are rarer, I assume Oracle is the one that takes longer to be full.

Every Wings of Fire POV's character class if they were in Dungeons and Dragons

-Part One: Prophecy Dragonets-

Clay

Clay's first instinct in any situation is to defend his friends. His loyalty to them comes first to such a degree that I consider him a Paladin, his Oath of Devotion sworn to his family. Additional evidence: he paid attention to Anatomy lessons to better heal his friends, he's clearly the party tank, and his natural charisma has multiple dragons fall in love at first sight (Scarlet wants to hear his "rumbly voice," several students call him the dreamy handsome hero, and Peril's everything.

Tsunami

Tsunami's personality is 100% Barbarian. I dont know if I need to go any deeper than that. Lost princess comes back as a wild barbarian warrior? classic dnd.

Glory

Glory is difficult to pin down. My first instinct is to say "Rogue Assassin" because of her sneak attacks and invisibility and venom, but those are all racial abilities. Compared to professionals in each field, she's an amateur. Worse at sneak assassining than Deathbringer, worse than any other rainwing at venom control, and passable at camouflage. so what is she? She's a fighter. she worked her tail off to be the best warrior under the mountain, to prove she was everything the hypothetical skywing could have been and more. I put her as Fighter Eldritch Knight, specifically because she put as much work into her academic training as physical pr combat, and EK is the Wizard Fighter

Starflight

Starflight put all his points into intelligence to try and unlock psionics, but that's not how it works. I put him as a Wizard. He uses his brains to get through every situation he finds himself in, easily performing feats of recall that challenged Glory. Scribe subclass because he loves scrolls, and he gets more wisdom each book, detecting the Firebomb attack and the Secret Passage almost entirely by smell

Sunny

Sunny's kinda wild but it makes sense when you think about it. One, she's a multiclass. not cause she's a hybrid, but because both classes make to much sense. Her unshakable faith in the prophecy would 100% let her cast spells in any dnd setting, so I say she's a cleric. but she's also the best 1v1 fighter in the DoD, even if none of them know it. Tsunami uses Sunny's technique to escape Whirlpool's assassination attempt and Glory uses Sunny's pressure points to escape the Nightwings. Sunny's a Monk, probably more monk than cleric after book 5.

Hybrid Prince Theory

Since the cover dropped recently, I have been absolutely stoked and I can't wait to get my grubby little hands over it when it comes out hehehe. Anyways, I've had a theory knocking around in my head since the book was first announced and I think I'd like to share it with yall!

The theory I have is that Beryl, one of the dragons whose name was on Queen Scarlet's revenge list and speculated to be Prince Mulberry's mother, is Scarlet's younger sister mentioned in "A Guide to A Dragon World". It might sound a little far-fetched at the moment but hear me out.

So it's been confirmed that Queen Scarlet had sisters, at least the two that died while challenging her for the throne and the one that got poisoned at her wedding. Of Scarlet's sisters, the youngest is mentioned to have been banished to one of the outermost SkyWing posts, but it isn't said whether or not she came back from it when Scarlet won her challenge against Queen Firestorm. She very well could have been one of the two that challenged Scarlet for the throne and failed, after all, Tailwind mentions that they were the surviving sisters Scarlet had up until that point. But since it's not stated whether or not that sister ever returned to the Sky Palace from her exile, it's not out of the question that she could be considered dead or missing. Maybe she escaped or left the outpost at some point, maybe once she heard Scarlet became Queen, and made her way to wherever the Hybrid Prince will be taking place. It might also tie into Scarlet having her name on the hit list, as yet another heir of hers she had to get rid of.

Scarlet's youngest sister is also never mentioned by name, and Vermillion mentions that he's never heard of or met a dragon named Beryl when looking over Scarlet's hit list. As we know, Scarlet is pretty good at keeping secrets. She managed to fool her whole Kingdom and her own family over Ruby's true identity for decades before it was revealed, so I don't think she'd have any quarrel with keeping the identity of another sister secret. Besides, it probably would have made things a lot easier for her to deal with while trying to get her out of the way if Beryl's identity was never made public.

Beryl is also theorized to be the Queen of the "Court of Refuge" that's supposed to appear in book 16, if it isn't run like how the actual royal families are on the other continents, it would only make sense that her role would have been achieved by having a great knowledge of diplomacy and leadership. Those are things she probably would have witnessed first-hand at the Sky Palace as a daughter of a Queen, maybe even taught about by other dragons around her should she become a Queen one day.

As for being Prince Mulberry's mom... well, he is half SkyWing after all!

Idk, maybe I'm talking out of my ass right now. We'll come back to this in March to see if I was right or not lmao.

If it turns out Beryl isn't Scarlet's long-lost-sister after all, I wonder what she might have done to get on Scarlet's bad side (not that that takes a lot of effort, but still). And since Scarlet is gone, does that mean that her secret revenge plans against Beryl are put to a stop or is there something else to set it in motion, even from beyond the grave?
