WOLF FACTS THREAD!!!!!!! BUCKLE UP!!! THIS MAY GET LENGTHY!!! PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE BLOOD IN SOME OF THE IMAGES
I wanted to go into some depth on how Wolf’s anatomy and beastkin DNA functions as a whole in terms of something “Advanced” and “Controlled”. Wolf isn’t your usual beastkin that would be balanced for society. They absorbed their twin in the womb and it caused some genetic imbalanced, their beastkin making up more of their DNA than human in a sense, which would set them for something more wildborn than domestic. Having wild animal genes of something that isn’t domesticated adds to the pressure. This results in Wolf displaying more animalistic behaviors.
So how does this affect them as a whole? Let’s start with Mannerisms and Behavior!
Wolf is what you could call a “High Content Wolf-Dog” when it comes to living with Strade. They are a wild animal with certain behaviors that DO NOT match what a regular dog or canid beastkin would exhibit. They are also more prone to engaging in these behaviors after being under-stimulated because Society doesn’t take well to something aggressive being on the streets. (This only checks because the history of abuse within their life.) These behaviors can include but are not limited to:
- Licking corners of higher ranks lips or mouth to appease / ease tension / show submission
- Scent marking territory with their scent glands or bodily fluids
- Being more vocal, ie: excessive roaring barks, howling, growling, whining
- Insatiable oral drive and need for stimulation
- Extreme territorial responses and food aggression
- Biting and other aggressive behaviors, even when unprovoked
With this, muzzle training is a must. It’s not ideal for Wolf to be collared with a shock collar, especially Strade’s current version, because these can only make those behaviors worse, and Strade doesn’t wish to euthanize or kill them! Wolf and Strade reached an agreement and Strade is working on a sub variant collar for Wolf that won’t hurt as bad but still show that he owns them. Strade has had to work on some behavioral training while reading up on some tips for more wild beastkin so he can keep laid back when in public with Wolf. Otherwise he would just resort to his usual violence to whip them back into standard. While being more wild, this also means Wolf doesn’t have a set sleep schedule, they just nap throughout the day if they need to. This could be an inconvenience if they chose to sleep outside of Strade’s PC room and in the basement.
These are good examples of Wolf communicating with their teeth. In both they are very negative in connotation, Wolf doesn’t usually smile with their fangs bared this much. The first is more submissive and fear based, as the ears are pinned, while the other is more aggressive and dominant, where the ears face forward more. This applies for real world wolves too!
