Wolfburn Whisky Northland

Wolfburn Northland is the first official bottling from Wolfburn Distillery in Thurso, the northernmost mainland distillery in Scotland. The distillery was re-established in 2013 on a site where whisky had already been produced in the 19th century. The name comes from the nearby stream “Wolf Burn,” which also supplies the water for production.

Northland is mainly matured in former Islay quarter casks that have only been lightly charred. This gives the whisky a fine, subtle smokiness without masking its fruitiness or maltiness.

La pequeña destilería de @wolfburn_whisky es la que se encuentra más al norte de la región de Highland, sin incluir islas. La destilería abrió sus puertas en 1822, cerró en 1877 y volvió a abrir en 2013, embotellando desde 2015 Y. Consta de solo una cuba y un alambique y tienen 6 productos. . Este Aurora se trata de un whisky de apenas 3 años cuyo 20% de su contenido ha pasado por barricas exbourbon y exjerez Oloroso y el resto solo por barricas exbourbon. Finalmente es embotellado a 46%. . En nariz se siente joven, bastante joven. Notas de resina, vino ácido, frutos rojos y malta caramelizada. . En boca muy ligero, con sabores a canela, jengibre, mermelada de frutos rojos y un retrogusto de melaza y madera. . Ciertamente una delicia para ser tan joven, pero algo caro ($50) para su añejamiento. .
