just remembered BJ Blazkowicz being a Futurama-esque severed head in a tube for a while
now I wanna see the 3024 Nixon vs “Terror Billy” presidential debate
Wolfenstein 3-D (1992): Your name is BJ Blazcowicz (Get it? his name sounds like BLAST haha) anyways go kill mecha-hitler
Wolfenstein II -The New Colossus: BJ wrestles with his mothers Jewish identity and his abusive upbringing from his southern eugenicist gentile father. He reflects on his childhood and how the hatred he was raised around led to the rise of the Nazi’s he now struggles against.
Eva’s Hammer - Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (2017)
Among the various locales of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, perhaps the most interesting in terms of level design is Area 52, which heavily emphasizes rapid transitions between different environment types, with significant gameplay changes necessitated between each. Moving from a moving train carrying personnel and new weaponry where the player can methodically move ahead car by car, to the more stealth focused entry into the base itself, ending with an enormous shootout with a giant mechanical suit, the game uses these transitions to provide a microcosm of the entire game’s various modes of play.
Games I would recommend from what I’ve played in 2019 are:
Stealth Bastard Deluxe
Victor Vran
Full Metal Furies
Oxenfree
High Hell
Bendy and the Ink Machine
Wolfenstein II
Borderlands 3
Doom
Overlord II
Prey
Super Daryl Deluxe
Sonic Forces
Zombie Army Trilogy
Tembo The Badass Elephant
Stories Untold
Inside
So if you ain’t checked any of those out, That’s the main impression that’s been made on me this yeah for good games.
Wolfenstein II made a great decision with its story to have Sigrun Engel defect from the Nazis at the start of the story.
Throughout the game you can eavesdrop on Nazis and read their letters and for a split second you can almost feel for some of them...
...Except then you remember none of them had the courage to defect like the daughter of the worst Nazi on earth (Hitler is on Venus, to be clear) and then you don’t have to feel bad about hacheting them through the face.
