WOLFPACK WEDNESDAYS: Failed Wolfpack Challenge, Chapter 14
The snow ploughing down on Deadgrass Isle kept everyone indoors for a while – but given the modifications of the ex-shack, no one much minded.
It was nice, to cosy up by the fire:
To play with the Winterfest presents Parker had bought the pack:
And to stare out the window and watch the wintery sun set.
And luckily, thanks to those guardian angel gnomes, the lack of hunting opportunities weren’t hampering Parker’s income.
So much so, the renovations continued: Parker finally swapped out her raccoon-scratched inflatable bed!
And got a rug, too, enjoyed by the dogs…
Much like the rug in the living room, apparently claimed by Whisper.
In fact, the snow lasted so long that by the time the rain came and cleared it away, it shocked us all: we’d forgotten how the Isle looked underneath it all.
Unfortunately, it also showed up everything the snow had hidden… And how many new trash plants had grown because of it.
The rain also had a second function: pathetic fallacy. Rain usually symbolises sadness… and Parker, to her surprise, was about to feel very Sad.
On the morning of Winterfest, one of Parker’s pack – sort of – found a space he liked to sit. It was warm, it was compact, and he could get the first look at anything Parker happened to cook.
That corner on the kitchen counters became, to his mind, Tofu’s domain.
Parker tried to get him off; it was rude, and it was unhygienic, and if she didn’t take that from the dogs she chose to adopt, she wouldn’t take it from the raccoon that had tagged along. And Tofu learned not to jump on counters – but he stayed on the counter anyway.
Parker tried to shoo him off.
Parker called him to several full bowls, at several points.
In fact, Tofu refused to move altogether – even when Parker received warnings and threats of him being take away, Tofu stayed on those counters until, eventually, someone with greater powers than Parker made him move.
Parker hadn’t wanted Tofu in the first place; she’d just accepted his presence. And without it, to her surprise…
**NOTE** I did not starve the raccoon! My Wolfpack save has been suffering since the patch that was supposed to fix the glitches that snuck in with Seasons – before the patch, all was fine, but after it, my queue was filled with all the animals, Parker wouldn’t finish a plate of food, and yes, Tofu got stuck. Even debugging him and the counters wouldn’t get him off the damn surface. Idk what to say!
I chose to incorporate it into the story – after all, the challenge was already a fail. So it doesn’t end here!
