it took me nearly 20 years of fandom before i dove headfirst into Trigun fan fiction, and now that i’m in, there’s no resurfacing. so now, just in case anyone is interested, i would like to share some of my favorites. listed in alphabetical order.
i’ll be updating my list every so often. i’m secondofjune on AO3.
(since Tumblr has limited the number of links per post, i had to split my rec list into separate entries.)
Favorite OTP moment, either manga or anime or both? By the way just wanted to drop by to say you are the most dedicated Trigun fan I've ever seen. Every now and then I get tired of Trigun and then suddenly I'm in love again and I get to come here and roll around in the Trigun feels.
Aaaaah, I'm so happy that my blog makes other people happy! :D
At first I was trying to come up with some deep, romantic answer to this, and then I was like, "Let's be honest here, Plantfeathers! You know what the real answer is!"
It's Milly pretending to be pregnant and poor Wolfwood pretending to be her hubby. XD Because I like cute, silly, funny things.
Wolfwood and Milly are my fave, but Vash and Meryl have grown on me over time and come in at second place. My favorite moment between those two is in the manga, when Vash kneels down to reassure her, and then they do that thing where they kiss their knuckles and then fist-bump. That's just all kinds of sweet and adorable.
I've heard some people say that Wolfwood and Milly sleeping together at the very end was too much too fast, and even though I like that pairing, I'm a little tempted to agree.
So here is an alternate version of events, that still fits perfectly within canon. :D
Milly and Wolfwood ate sandwiches. Maybe they talked a bit. Maybe they even did some cuddling, if you like the idea of them cuddling. (I like the idea of cuddling.)
Then they said good night to each other and headed off to bed. Milly went back to her room and put on her pajamas, but then she thought of something else she'd like to say to Wolfwood, so she went back. Wolfwood also decided to try and get some sleep and had taken his shirt off while she was gone.
And the next thing they knew they were both sitting and talking again. Maybe they talked about serious things, or maybe they decided to escape their problems for a while and talk about silly things. Maybe there was more cuddling. If you want some kissing, this is the perfect place in the story to imagine a little kissing. If you want them to go all the way, I'm not really sure why you're reading this, but thanks for reading anyway. :)
But in the end they stayed up so late talking that Milly accidentally fell asleep on him. So Wolfwood said, "Hey, just crash in my bed. It's fine. I'll sleep on the couch or something." So Milly sleepily staggered over to his bed and passed out.
And Wolfwood stayed up for a while and had a smoke break and stuff, because, you know, he's got a lot on his mind.
And you know the story from there.
(This is also why, when Meryl comes in, she finds Milly in her pajamas, even though she was in her normal clothes when she brought the sandwiches.)
Aw, that little story was adorable! Milly can make Wolfwood do anything with her sweetness. Now I'm wondering how embarrassed Meryl was when Vash unleashed his inner airplane in the store :'D
Aw, thanks! Wolf X Milly are one of the very few pairings that I ship in my life, so I’m glad someone found it cute. ^_^ And, yes, I imagine if they had a serious relationship then any disagreements would likely end with Wolfwood caving to whatever Milly wants. XD
I’m not really sure if Meryl would get really aggravated and embarrassed by Vash’s antics, or if she would just heave a sigh and ignore him. lol
"Brother's Path" chapter 5 is up, titled "Knives and His Brother's Companions." Otherwise entitled, "Dear Vash, I will never understand your choice of friends. Love, Knives." [link]
Also, for kicks and giggles, here, have a Wolfwood X Milly fluff drabble. It's so short, I feel weird posting it to ffn, so I'll just post it here.
It's titled, "The Two-Step."
“Wanna dance?” Milly asked, brightly.
“What?” Wolfwood looked slightly terrified. “No! I don't know how to dance!”
They were standing together outside of a store. The quartet had gone inside together, but while roaming the aisles, they had somehow gotten split up. Rather than try to track down their friends, Wolfwood and Milly had decided to wait for them outside.
There was country music playing over the PA system, which could still be heard just outside the entrance, and one of Milly's favorite songs had come on. It was a song which, in fact, one of her many older sisters had taught her how to dance to.
“Oh, come on!” Milly insisted. “We can two-step! Two-stepping is easy! It'll be lots of fun!”
Wolfwood looked dubious.
“No really!” Milly insisted. “One of my sisters taught me, and it really is easy. It goes like this.” Milly posed herself, her hands in the air as if she had a dancing partner in front of her. Then she began taking steps in place. “It's two quick steps and two slow steps. Quick, quick, slow... slow... Quick, quick, slow... slow... One. Two. One (two.) One (two.) One. Two. One (two.) One (two.) That's all. There are all kinds of little twirly things you can do, too, but we don't have to do that stuff.”
Wolfwood was looking at Milly's feet as if he was suspicious that they were trying to trick him.
She clasped her hands together, hunching her shoulders, and said, “Please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?”
“Milly...” Wolfwood dropped his face into one hand. “Every time we're together I do crazy things for you,” he lamented. “Buying you food... pretending to be the father of your sextuplets...”
“And dancing with me?”
He sighed. Then he held his arms out as if he were a toy waiting to be posed. Sounding resigned, he asked, “Where do I put my hands?”
She took hold of one of this hands and placed it on her upper back. Her hand on that side rested on his shoulder. Their other hands took hold of each other. “We'll go at half-speed for a bit. Just step forward each time, like you're walking, while I step backward. And then we walk in a big circle. Just mirror me, okay?”
She began counting aloud again, and Wolfwood did his best to match her steps. He seemed to be making an enormous effort of concentrating on his feet. For some reason, that struck Milly as being cute. It really was fairly easy, though, and Wolfwood hazarded a smile. “Hey, you know... this is kinda fun.”
“Isn't it?”
He lifted his head and the two grinned at each other.
For a long moment, they danced in the street and listened to the music and quietly smiled.
And then Milly realized that she was very happy. Perfectly, peacefully happy. It suddenly seemed to her that she and Wolfwood were somehow meant to be doing this, that they belonged there. They were two puzzle pieces meant to fit together.
The song ended and they stopped moving. Milly didn't really want to let go of him, and Wolfwood didn't seem to want that either. For a moment, the two stood, still holding each other, and Milly found herself looking into his eyes. She had never looked at him this closely before. His dark eyes had a lot more color in them this close.
Was he... moving his face closer to hers? Milly's heart suddenly began pounding. Was he really going to... but... but that would be...
… kind of nice... now that she thought about it.
The shop door opened.
Milly and Wolfwood both jumped guiltily, breaking away from each other and looking toward the door. Meryl came out, carrying a bag. Vash came trotting out behind her, his arms outstretched as if he were pretending to be an airplane.
“Heeeeey, there you are!” Vash cried happily, as he “flew” toward them.
Then Meryl asked, “Is... something wrong?”
“No!” they both said quickly.
Meryl and Vash stared at them.
“What?” Vash asked. “Did something happen?”
“Nothing!” they said in perfect unison.
Then Wolfwood said loudly, “Man, I'm really hungry! Are you guys hungry?”
That was enough of a distraction for Vash, at least. “Yeah! Can we get some pizza!? I'm craving pizza!”
The group began heading down the street. As they walked Meryl sidled over to Milly and murmured. “What was that about? I walked out and you looked embarrassed, and Wolfwood looked ticked off.”
Milly smiled. “It's okay. Don't worry about it.” She looked at Wolfwood's back as he walked ahead of her and, as she did, felt something warm and bright and a little fluttery inside of her. She hummed the tune of the song to herself as they made their way down the street.
What if Wolfwood and Milly were sitting at a little table eating together, just the two of them, and then Vash crept into the scene and started singing, "There you see her, sittin' there across the way. She don't got a lot to say, but there's something about her. And you don't know why, but you're dying to try, you wanna kiss the girl!"
Just popping in this fine Sunday afternoon to post a little birthday gift for Katie. Thanks for giving me an excuse to get off by lazy butt and finally draw these two like I've been meaning to. And happy birthday!
