TECHNICALLY, SHE’LL CLAIM, SHE’S STILL IN BED -------------- perched on the edge of the mattress with the sheet still wrapped around her waist as she scrolls through her phone. so much for the hope that he hadn’t heard it go off, or felt her pull away from him so she could answer it; neither one of them had gotten much sleep in the last few days as it was, but if she could grant him a few more minutes of it she would TRY.

she doesn’t answer him right away; a fact that becomes CLEAR when she feels his fingertips running along her lower back, light at first, but it isn’t long before she can feel his arm curling around her waist ------------ if he can’t convince her with WORDS, he’s apparently prepared to lull her back in by any means necessary. (   and he knows all too well that this approach ALWAYS works with her.   ) “okay, okay.” she yields with a LAUGH after he starts pulling her gently -------- setting the phone screen down on the nightstand as she allows him to reel her back in. “you win.” 

     “i dunno that we can for much longer though. they’re calling us in.”

IT’S  EASY  FOR  STARK  TO  SLIP  INTO  A  PRACTICED  ACT  ,       charm his way through an expecting crowd  ,    boring conversations and unwanted touches endured for the sake of appearances .    still ,    he seizes the opportunity to pull away from whatever businessman had been trying to initiate parley ,    delicate champagne glass abandoned somewhere along the way as he approaches logan with an amused huff .    there’s nothing going on between them that would warrant it ,    but stark had asked him to accompany him anyway ,    and he finds himself drawn to his side .     𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝'𝚜 𝚊 𝚝𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚛 𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚍𝚎𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚌𝚝 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚊𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚢𝚣𝚎 𝚊𝚗𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎 .    ❝    if you keep brooding in your corner all evening ,   they’ll assume i dragged you here against your will because i couldn’t find a date ,    which ,    full disclosure ,    is not the case .    ❞ 

                  adjusting logan’s tie ,    he drags him around the corner of the wall ,    away from the noise and prying eyes .    catching his gaze for a moment then ,     before leaning in to press a small kiss to his cheek ,    flushed grin offered as he steps back ,    preparing to walk away ,      ❝    lighten  up  .    please  ,    for  me  ?    i'll  compensate  you  later  :  we’ll  get  burgers  on  the  way  back  !    ❞
