Teary-eyed overly sentimental types who bang on about 'preserving English/British culture' in the face of the manufactured threat of small boats invading our shores only ever seem to trot out cliches when pressed to define it... the middle classes offer up warm beer, cricket, the aristocracy, manners and the Church of England (if any of the distant reaches of the Union get a mention, it's shortbread and battered Mars Bars for Scotland, Male Voice Choirs for Wales and 'Guinness?' for Northern Ireland), alternatively from groups of eager to conform blokes you might get football, 'two world wars, one world cup', bantz and the sesh repeated ad nauseum... all examples seem to obsequiously doff a much-tugged forelock to or on behalf of the British Establishment, 'which must be preserved' by it's loyal bootlicking subjects

But true British culture- if it should be anything- defiantly and exuberantly cocks a snook at the Establishment and throws in an 'up yours' v-sign for good measure, it strives to be free, is open to the universe (the seen and the unseen) and is willing and eager to be astonished!

Esoteric investigation and pursuits hold no fear, only discovery and, lo! enlightenment

Sacred/profane, profound/irreverant, precise/digressive, defiantly intelligent and hungrily curious/silly... the best of British culture is exuberant contradiction overflowing with messy self-assuredness/self-doubt all the while confident enough to NOT drape itself in flags in search of some ill-fitting restrictive identity, it is mutable, liquid and relishes the forward momentum and potential of it's own keen wandering ever curious eye... or at least I wish it was

I didn't mean for this to be so long- when contemplating Ken my mind is prone to fizz and ping and expand and ramble- my intention was to post Ken Campbell on here because 1) I couldn't find much when searching and 2) he seems to me to define something essential and seemingly in rapid decline in Britain, a true disruptor (in the traditional anti-establishment sense, not the current vogue for being an awful cunt by shitting on people worse off than you and therefore cheerfully maintaining the status quo, disrupting nothing, maintaining your own privilege at all costs)

Campbell was an actor, writer, theatre director, ventroliquist, prankster, Jackie Chan fan and Science Fiction enthusiast... but always uniquely Ken Campbell

Hell yeah!! Once you do I can tell you in more detail about all my AUs and headcanons and OCS, but here's one in particular-

Just discovered I uncovered a memory of the first ever OC I made and it *was* for frontier. I was at best 8 years old if not 7.

I still remember the lore now 🥀

It was lowkey fire ngl (plus it make sense with my uhh, first Yumeships)

Reminded me of my first ever OC. It was definitely as close as one gets to Yumeship for me being like. 8, I think. I made a Danny Phantom sona. I'm tempted to redraw it at some point

Arguably my actual first OC was the one that followed, that was *not* a sona. It was a G5 MLP alicorn named Sapphire Ruby that didn't get her cutie mark until she was an adult. I adored that character.

Unfortunately I got hit with the whole. Self-consciousness, masking, shame-and-embarrassment thing by the time I got into Digimon Adventure. Although I remember I wanted to, I never made an OC or a sona.

I think I only properly discovered what yumeshipping was literally a few months ago, and sometimes I think I may have one or two, but I never got rid of the self-conscious thing so I'm always reluctant to toe the line. However the day I discovered it I created a post with a bunch of tags kind of expressing the one I had on my mind at the time.

It effect the trauma too, but also not only??

Like, if we go on the LU route, I had to explain to a fan once that no four's surname is in fact 'smith' because it was common as hell back in the era the game set in, for a worker to have their Surname based on their job. And that ravio's Surname was actually lorule, but he go by fiala now because he fully detached from there the moment they went for his head :)

Or that wind is actually 16 years old, a reformed villain in his own source, has anxiety whenever we need to fast because food was so scarce, and that he spilled Ganon's blood in the sea when he killed him (yes, killed, not turned to stone), to make sure he won't come to life.

I want people to ask questions and let them talk, since the only systems I know either really don't care or ask, or are very sensitive about meeting people from their source/dir (not negatively they don't mind don't take to heart)

I actually love hearing about those differences I just never know how to ask.

We don't have quite so many distinct differences that I am aware of, but there are some like... missing in-between details they remember that aren't in their sources, or there are some headcanon, fanon details, or elements of themselves that my brain perceived as "right" that separate fictives from their sources a little.

The one detail I was thinking of before was that Leo, in his amd Donnie's memory, actually died in the events of the movie, for several minutes, before he was resuscitated.

Most of the TMNT turtle fictives have tails, is another one.

Four doesn't remember his last name, though, sadly, and neither do many of our fictives...

Although we know some other Four/Colours fictives who have a completely different opinion of the story of LU then ours has, and sometimes that's just intriguing to think about.

To be fair... it wasn't pleasant. In my memory we got hurt a lot, and for the other aforementioned system, though they didn't share details, I imagine the whole thing felt ridiculous and pointless. Especially given the suffering they also have experienced.

On top of that Lizzie, assuming you enjoy "heavy music" (not in the sense of it being rock or metal), I have multiple songs by an artist I can personally suggest you.

All of them made by the same person who Digi took their second name from– Ren Gill.

First of all there's the song "Hi Ren", who I do suggest you first listen to without access to the lyrics or anything that stimulates the eyes, and I do suggest you listen to all the songs using headphones, the music is kind of fast paced and every word matters, not to mention the words are truly the most important part considering there's little to no background sound.

On top of that, there is a series of songs that are meant to be listened to straight after the other as they are telling a story that is seperated into parts. Again I suggest watching the original video if you need a visual to keep your attention on the song, but I believe in particular that this series needs to be listened to with headphones and not visual distraction. Those songs are rather heavy in context so I do suggest keeping a grounding or comfort item around if possible.

- Jenny's Tale, followed by Screech's tale, and lastly followed by Violet's tale marks the first trio section of the series. Yes it needs to go in this precise order.

- then there's afterwards currently 3 songs that continues the tale:

• Vincent's tale - sunflowers

• Vincent's tale - self portrait

• Vincent's tale - the bedroom (released precisely 3 hours ago, trust we will be listening to it rather soon).

There are more songs that needs to be in this series but they are currently not released yet.

Aside of that there is also another trilogy of songs called "Money games" (all named the same save for numbering 1 2 3 in the title), which I personally think fits today's economy rather accurately.

Would be fascinating to hear your thought processes (both collectively and perhaps individually if there's any difference at any point of the listening process) and opinions regarding any of those songs- we hold this artist in very high value.

Oh, we know Ren! We more recently started getting into his music, so I've heard two of the Money Games songs (not sure which two) and Hi Ren is one of our favorites right now. I'll have to spend some time maybe on my computer typing out my thoughts as I listen to these songs, not sure when I will get to that though. I'll make a note for it.
