As vezes, os sentimentos chegam a tal ponto que não há saída, senão, se entregar aos seus desejos. Eles nos amassam, nos pisam, nos envergonham, nos intimidam, nos sufocam e ainda assim, ainda assim, ainda assim... nos dão todo o prazer do mundo.
So, I've played the Steam demo of Wonderfall, and I'm getting very, extremely strong Lies of P vibes from it. xD
[SPOILERS for Lies of P and the Wonderfall demo]
This already starts with the game's setting, which is an alternate reality of Paris in the year 1920 (a little later than the turn of the century around which LoP is supposed to be set, but close enough).
You make your way through the abandoned streets of a crumbling Paris whose buildings are quite literally eaten away by a mysterious disease called "Entropy", dissolving them into bluish black sand. There are signs everywhere saying "Attention! You're entering a quarantine zone!", giant roots grow from the pavement, blue phantoms roam the streets, and the only thing that seems to be left of Paris's former inhabitants are scattered journals, letters, and newspaper clippings.
So, it should be no surprise that my immediate first reaction was "Well, this feels familiar." xD
It gets better than that, though.
In the second part of the demo, you get teleported into a strange parallel world, where you can collect three separate journal entries revealing a little more about the Entropy. (To quote my own thoughts: "Oh, so I'm collecting all parts of So Said Pistris now?" xD)
And the third entry in particular is a real kicker:
I had such a shit-eating grin on my face when reading the word "alchemists", and when that was immediately followed up by "threshold between time and eternity", I was quite literally screaming in my mind. The mention of "God" (quite a plot point in LoP) is the icing on the cake, and if that wasn't already enough, the description of a "vast and patient consciousness, indifferent to our names and our prayers" basically summarizes my headcanons on what Ergo actually is. xD (I've long held the theory that Ergo is an alien, collective consciousness.)
Speaking of Ergo, the "stone" mentioned in the text sounds very reminiscent of Ergo; plus, the second journal entry does bring up the topic of memories:
Finally, judging by the Wonderfall character art, it looks like the Entropy can also affect human bodies? Kinda like LoP's Petrification Disease?
E.g. Ernest (the old man with the goggles) has a patch of blue on his face, and the girl(?) at the top appears to be blind in one eye (Petrification Disease can also cause blindness, see sidequest with the weeping woman at the window).
I mean, I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Wonderfall devs took inspiration from Lies of P.
Calling it now: The big plot twist is gonna be that the LoP alchemists time/reality traveled from Belle Époque-punk Paris (Krat) to real-life Paris to wreak havoc there. xD (Which sounds ridiculous but probably wouldn't be impossible given LoP's lore.)
