I was just living my life, and all of a sudden I was bowled over by JAVY AND JAKE FRIENDSHIP ANGST?
Imagine this: Javy is Jake's best friend, so he's the first to notice Jake is totally in love with Rooster. Except Jake refuses to admit it, so Javy comes up with A Plan.
He asks Rooster out on a date, thinking this'll spur Jake into action. But nope. Jake just gnashes his teeth and does nothing. Except—Rooster says yes to the date.
So Javy takes him on one. And it's damned fun, and at the end of the night, Rooster asks him on another.
Javy thinks, maybe Jake just needs a little push, and says yes. It goes on like that, and Javy realises that Bradley is a great guy. He's fun, he's considerate, and they can laugh about ridiculous things together.
He kind of forgets this was all about Jake.
Except, of course, Jake and Bradley get deployed together on a mission, and go MIA. They're missing for a week, and when they come back, Javy can see how protective Jake has gotten over Bradley. Jake gruffly tells Javy to "take care of him", and Javy hadn't wanted this, hadn't wanted to fall for the love of his best friend's life.
Then he comes home and Bradley is there, smiling at him so beautifully, and he can't give him up, not even for the man who's like a brother to him. Not when Bradley tells him he loves him for the first time, and admits all he could think about during that wretched week was coming back to him.
Javy and Jake do their best to try not to let it change their friendship, but sometimes Bradley laughs that gorgeous laugh of his, and he sees the same love on his face mirrored in Jake's.
They don't talk about it.
