America and Marlee: The Eternal Friendship
I was running up the stairs, mentally slapping myself for forgetting the streamers. It was the one year anniversary of me meeting Marlee and I was throwing a party for her. It was set to start in an hour and the great hall still wasn’t ready! I hope May and Carter can keep her distracted until we are ready.
I made a right turn towards my room and ran inside, grabbing the streamers that I conveniently placed on my bedside table. I closed the door of my room and made my way back down towards the great hall, unable to wait for Marlee’s reaction when she sees the party.
...
‘Marlee, wait up!’ I heard May scream
‘You cant catch me!’ I threw back, turning my head to run forwards once again. I made a sharp turn and slammed into something hard and warm
‘Oooph’ I heard
I tried stepping back from the person I ran into, but their arms wrapped around me.
‘Who are you running from, Mar?’ Carter whispered into my ear, sending heat to my cheeks
‘May’ I answered, try to get out of his grasp again
Carter merely smirked, before holding me away from him, a shoulder length apart.
‘I can help with that’ he said and grabbed me by the waist and positioned me on his back.
I let out a squeal when he started running and wrapped my arms around his neck
'CARTER LET ME GO!' I screamed, and he just laughed and kept running. He ran out of the gardens and into the Palace, and just then I turned around and realized that May wasn't chasing us anymore.
'Carter, where's May?' I asked
'You'll seeeee!' Carter replied, running into the Palace
'Carter! Maxon's going to have a fit if he sees this!' I exclaimed
'Don't worry, Mar, you should see how much running he does with America' he chuckled while I made gagging noises
Just then, he put me down and took my hand, walking into the great hall. The room was dark, which was unusual since it was normally never dark.
'Carter?' I whispered, leaning into his side
Carter ignored my silent question and walked us further into the room. Suddenly, all the lights flicked on and everyone screamed:
'HAPPY FRIENDS DAY, MARLEE!'
I turned around, surveying all the faces until I landed on the one person who I knew was responsible for this. Her fiery hair was let loose and in waves and she was wearing a pale pink dress. Slowly, she walked up to me, giving the box that she was holding to Maxon. I snapped out of my trance and ran towards her, wrapping her in a hug.
'I love you so much, America, and I'm so happy that you came into my life, and I want to spend the rest of my life being your friend' I cried into her shoulder
'I love you too, Marlee, and you were the one that always stood by me, and I'll never forget that. You are more to me than a friend, much more' she replied, tears streaming down her face as well
In this moment, I knew that my fate was set, and I was more than happy on where it had chosen to rest.
