honestly finding out both bookdepository and goodreads are owned by amazon was all kinds of disappointing, BUT, luckily, I think I might have found a substitute for bookdepository? wordery.com is a british online book retailer that’s, as of yet, independent to the best of my knowledge. and just like bd they have free worldwide shipping??

to be fair I haven’t technically bought anything there yet but the one book I got from there through a dutch online site (bol.com works with them) arrived this morning, one day ahead of when it was expected to arrive. (sidenote: I do always have a lot of questions about shops that are both cheap and have free shipping, because where, WHERE are the cuts being made so there’s still a profit? like who suffers for this, someone has to at some point down the line. but also I am but a poor booknerd so for my own sake I try not to ask too many questions)

obviously by far the superior way of getting books is through actual physical shops or the library, but if like me you live in a small rural town with one tiny bookshop that’s expensive af and whose owners are kind of pretentious and not actually that nice and a tiny library with a very limited collection that still costs money, then this is probably the way to go.
