My Word of the Year.
After talking about the lack of enthusiasm writing our traditional Xmas/NY letter I also realized that I had a harder time coming up with my word of the year too. A few were contenders but none were “it” and then as I reflected on this past year and planning our next year with a 5-week vision due to dear hubby new post in audit, “Wait & See” (technically 3 words I know) could be fitting.
I also started to made my own the adage “I don’t chase, I attract”. Chasing people made me exhausted and not valued the last couple of years.
I’m surrounded by busy friends who always find time for a quick lunch or coffee break and I’m more than happy to cross the city to meet friends where it is convenient for them. The text messages “I’m in Paris we’ve got a lot to do but hoping we can squeeze a quick coffee or dinner”, or “My kids are in town I told them to connect so they can meet you” the middle of the night message “I just landed in the south of France, thinking of going to Paris to meet up, when would you be there so we can reconnect after almost 2 decades” are the type of connection that I’m seeking more of and fill me up with joy. This past year I’ve had random friends I met ages ago on far away lands who recognized me walking in their neighborhood; we stop, we chat 10 minutes or an hour it doesn’t matter, fleeting moments that create more memories. I have also rearrange my schedule to accommodate people in town, I have planned my trips so I could grab lunch with friends in their city. Cherish the people and cherish the time.
That being said I also have let reconnection slip thru because I’ve also been busy with travel, daily life, and mostly because procrastination is my middle name so firm places and dates work better for me than a vague we should meet up.
My word last year was connection, retrospectively it should have been more about REconnection, because it was the year when I reconnected with so many friends from our different lives across the globe, some met over 2 decades ago.
This year it will be

Let’s attract… good people, good connection, good vibes, good opportunities.
Finally publishing all the posts I should have posted at the beginning of the month.
