Happy Storyteller Saturday it's Drist! Which of your Oc's would absolutely love to go to a theme park and who would hate it? Feel free to give us some of their reactions to certain attractions ;)

oh my god I had this god awful training at work all day today and came home to storyteller saturday, got really excited and sent a ton of asks, and then slept until 11:30pm 😭😭

But the idea of any of the kids from The World Beyond at an amusement park is hilarious to me

Sevianne would be so excited about everything: rides, games, cotton candy. The girl wouldn’t stop smiling the whole time.

Keight would pretend not to be having as good of a time as he is. Coasters would freak him out probably but he would kill it at carnival games and win a ton of prizes for Sevianne.

Gegaesse would definitely vomit on the first ride, but he’d push through for the twins.

Exilei would find the whole thing hilarious to watch.

Oh! Also! For The World Beyond the Looking Glass, you say Samantha has a gift for languages - will you be doing any constructed language work for the WIP? (I would be happy to help you if so, I have a BA in linguistics and have worked on a couple of languages to varying degrees of completion)!

I don’t want to say I’m doing a lot of conlang, because honestly? I’m pretty lazy so I only ever really make up words that I need, and I’m a lot more interested in how culture affects the way they speak. For example, in Leric some common interjections refer to the stars (”Oh, stars” or “stars above”) while in Zyherian (which is from Duty Bound and not TWB) it’s usually a reference to a particular god or patron that applies to the situation (”By Taia, you are beautiful” or “Prayers to Hian for a victory”).

But there is one language in TWB that I have actually had to build and it’s because one of the main characters, Keight, is mute. So while he knows Leric and some Gainnish, he and his sister also made up an entire signed language when they were children, which because of her gift, Samantha also now understands and can use, and this is the language that I’m most focused on creating. 

But (1) I will absolutely hit you up with language questions, and (2) what kind of languages are these that you’ve worked on? Are they for your writing? How do you go about constructing them? I am so into this kind of stuff, please share

It was still raining when Gegaesse came to save me from the girls, so we ran all the way home, hand in hand, still unable to have a conversation through the sheets of water coming down. The roaring rain also masked Sevianne’s coughing until we had stepped inside the house. And it was bad.

Storyteller Saturday! :) So can you tell us more about the anti-dragon laws in The World Beyond the Looking Glass?

Once upon a time, in a land called Balgainn, Prince Camer wanted a dragon. The problem with this was he was not a dragon rider. 

Lucky for him, a man named Helibe who was a dragon rider was sent to prison, and the king stole that man’s dragon for his son. Again, the problem with this was Camer was not a dragon rider.

Dragons have a very special connection with their riders: they can feel each other’s pain, emotions, and it’s unheard of for one to outlive the other. So when Helibe died in prison and the prince was out on a ride, he and the dragon fell from the sky, killing the prince and somehow not the dragon.

The king was devastated of course, and in response declared all dragons were to be executed, starting with the one that killed his son.

Enter, our hero.
