I wish it was just usian ppl who struggle with tech these days but i'm sorry to report that perception is just us exceptionalism at play. Younger people suck at tech to more or less the same degree worldwide. Yes part of it is because we're all subjugated to US standards in tech in the more widely used programs and sites, but the end result's more or less the same, even if some places have stronger IT knowledge from school
Yeesh, you guys hear someone say, "yeah that insult about Americans is true, the kids really don't understand computers." And actually feel the need to go, "no, you can't hog that insult to yourself, that's narrow minded!"
Uh. Maybe don't jump on my back for being self-deprecating on a satirical post about Americans all secretly being AI bots? This is silly. There are a lot of ignorant American centrists on here, but don't decide we're all that way just because you see someone talking about the US.
Anyway. Yes, the youngest generation sure does have problems with computers, huh? Some of them don't even know what an internet browser is. My brother teaches university and even at that age they only knew how to open reddit on the app and not using its website. One of them was having problems because she turned off the screen and thought the computer was frozen. My brother tried to explain to press the little button on the monitor, but someone else walked up and said, oh, it's off! And pressed the power button. Which turned the computer off.
Having been outside the US, I can say that people in Japan are infinitely more aware of how to use computers. However, they're also greatly sequestered from US culture and see outside influences as dishonorable outside of tourist interactions like McDonald's. It's to a fault. But, I can't help but think that the separation from US influence and the greater computer savvy aren't just a coincidence.
