Beloved Whump Prompt #123
"You didn't think we would come?" Team Leader asks, horrified.
"No, I knew you would," Whumpee says, "I just didn't think you would make it in time."
Team Leader Dialogue
◈ “I'm basically a glorified pet sitter. I’m now able to tell the difference between good and bad kind of silence.”
◈ “It’s not that simple. I’m responsible for all of you. One wrong choice and people could get hurt, or worse. You should be thankful I’m not sending you into unnecessary danger.”
◈ “Sit. Drink, catch your breath. And then tell me what the hell you thought you were doing out there alone.”
◈ “Like it or not, you’re part of this. That means your screw-ups are my problems too.”
◈ “Alright, touching moment’s over. Everyone back to work.”
◈ “Get back, no— Listen! I am ordering you to get back! You’re not getting hurt on my watch!”
◈ “Hey! Do not yell at my people. I’m responsible for them, you got a problem with them, you got a problem with me.”
◈ “Don’t get me wrong, you’re an annoyance. But one with potential.”
◈ “Next time you’re gonna do somethign self-sacrifical, do me a favor and run it by me first, yeah?”
◈ “You remind me of myself.” “Is that… A good thing?” “Depends on who you ask. For our enemies it sure isn’t. For you? Debatable.”

Whump Scene #19: Metal Restraints
“Alright, hold still.” Whumpee whimpers and buries his face in Caretaker's chest.
“Ssh, it's alright,” Caretaker whispers. Their hand runs through Whumpee's hair, gently caressing them and keeping them still. “Don't look, yeah?”
Whumper had locked Whumpee in thick metal restraints and threw away the key. Their only option to free him is to cut him free. Team Leader is holding a big saw, specifically made to cut through metal.
“Please,” Whumpee whispers into Caretaker's chest. “I'm sorry… Don't…”
Team Leader pauses and Caretaker's eyes soften with pain. “Go on,” Caretaker whispers. “He's not all there right now. I think he thinks you're Whumper.”
Team Leader sets her jaw and adjusts her grip on the saw. “Gonna fucking rip Whumper apart,” she swears. She crouches, tries to catch Whumpee's eyes. “I'll be careful, Whumpee. Yeah?”
Whumpee incoherently mumbles into Caretaker's chest, and Team leader stands back up. The saw whirrs to life and Whumpee jolts, screams with fear into Caretaker's chest. His entire body is trembling as he tries to pull away, legs kicking out, screaming his throat raw.
"Be quick," Caretaker asks and Team Leader lowers the saw with a pinched expression. Once the metal is being cut, Whumpee freezes up until all restraints have been cut. As soon as he is free, he slumps forward.
Team Leader drops the saw and catches Whumpee with aching gentleness. "Got you now," she whispers and exchanges a look with Caretaker.
They are on warpath now.
When they finally found [Whumpee], there was a single second of shock where the whole team felt their stomach drop. They were reduced to a heap of clothes hanging from their restraints.
[Leader] hesitated. They were surprised when [teammate], the less serious of them all stepped foward without a doubt.
"There you are" A clear voice stepped through, with utmost care, and softness cupped the face of [whumpee]. it is what finally kicked the team into action. Hands moved forward, restraints were starting to be dealt with. [Leader] started issuing orders.
Only [Teammate] remained still, cupping [Whumpee]'s head through the flurry of movement, that seemed to react to the world around them.
"You had us worried sick. Easy. Easy. Is us. We're here. We got you." [Whumpee] weakly reached foward, and muttered something unintelligible for [Leader]. However, [Teammate] seemed to listen because they brought [Whumpee]'s head to their shoulder, muttering sweet nothings to their ear. Suddenly, their eyes turned cold for a fraction of second, their facade dropping before the mask was on again "No, [Whumpee]. That's not true. Whatever they told you, is a lie. And we will get you out of here."
They locked eyes with [Leader], as they worked with their restraints. And [leader] could finally hear what [Whumpee] was saying.
"…not worth it. I'm not worth it."
"An eye for an eye makes the world go blind."
"Then maybe these fuckers should stop going for the eyes of my people."

Reception
