That just means they're smaller than the giant anteaters.) There are countless #AnimalFacts about tamanduas, but lets focus on those feet. The front feet have a very big claw in the middle and they have very powerful muscles attached to those claws. They use these awesome adaptations to tear open rotting trees and termite mounds to get to the yummy eggs and larva of the termite and/or ant colony they are digging up. And how about that row of short hooked claws on the back feet? They are perfect for hooking into a tree as they climb. And get this! They can rotate their back feet 180 degrees.
