This Marine joined the Corps to honor his father, who died in the 9/11 attacks in New York City. He served aboard the USS New York during a recent deployment at sea. New York day 2 part 1 ahah we did so many things! We walked so many miles! #statueofliberty (with a little ferry ride π€’ hahah) it was so inspiring and beautiful. Taking the route all the immigrants took to get here was incredible. #ellisislandmuseum was another level. Bella did a search in their system for fun I was like thereβs no venturos donβt even waste your time and she found my grandfather Pedro Venturo Zapata traveled through Ellis Island in 1948 when he had to go to New York for a trip from Canada before going back to Peru. Incredible! Had the New York street pizza and hiked up the #brooklynbridge saw the #ghostbustersfirehouse and was able to go inside! So many old cemeteries along the way from each destination. And of course the #worldtradecentermemorial just broke me. #wtc I can still feel it, it still hurts and being there and seeing the #survivaltree and how big everything was.
