SELIAS Interview with Drummer Daniel Bouwman
Angel:Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your style?
Daniel: As a drummer, some of my biggest influences are Eloy Casagrande, Luke Holland, Gene Hoglan, and ii from Sleep Token. I incorporate elements of their styles into the music we create for SELIAS.
Angel: What’s something you listen to that might surprise people, given the music you make?
Daniel: Snarky Puppy and Everything Yes—I love the complexity of their music.
Angel: What’s a non-musical skill, hobby, or obsession in the band that has secretly shaped your music?
Daniel: I’m a thrill-seeker. I love the speed, intensity, and adrenaline of extreme mountain biking, skiing and roller coasters. I push those same limits in my drumming.
Angel:Who in the band would survive a zombie apocalypse the longest—and why?
Daniel: Neil. It’s always the quiet ones you need to watch out for!
Angel: Where can people catch SELIAS live in 2026?
Daniel: We have multiple tours upcoming can be seen on our social media sites
Angel:What are your favorite venue(s) to play shows at?
Daniel: It's hard to choose, but Soo Blasters in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is a great venue. Honestly, any place where the crowd is vibing and headbanging to our music is a favorite.
