Okay so like. If season 3 had been a full six episode season, who wants to bet that the entirety of episode six would have been Asa and Anthony? because that's what I'm thinking. Maybe it's unrealistic, but I can see a well fleshed out Jesus + Michael plot being done in five episodes, and then a full finale for the new world.

It's already a week into November, and NaNoWriMo officially shut it's doors for good reason, and I've never posted a fic over 10k, but the way things are going I might get into the spirit of the season regardless because I'm trying to plot out my Rowdyheart reunion fic concept chapter by chapter and I might hit 50k by accident before we get so much as the idea of a confession.

while we're all grappling with the fact that Pappy is old, artists: he's old in the flashbacks too. all the fanart in this fandom is godsend and i adore it, but sometimes when people draw the Crew younger, they remember that Marya is in her twenties, Monty and Van are probably* in their thirties, Comfrey is in her sixties....and forget that Pappy is also in his sixties!!!

You can draw him suave and handsome and younger and still have him be past middle age!!

(*Monty and Van's ages are guesses, but that feels about right)

A lot of Mirandy fic* (and okay femslesh fic of a certain generation) has a lot of......"Woaw I've Never Even Considered A Woman But She's So So So I Must!" there's an element of "girl-on-girl-first-time-both-het-kissing" that can sometimes show up, and while of course this can appear in slash as well, it's much less prevalent these days.

All that to say, where the HECK is the 80k comphet lesbian two kids three divorces Miranda Priestly character study. This would be my heated rivalry. Do I need to write it myself?

People can write whatever they want, but speaking as someone who has read a lot of Mirandy fic over the years, there seems to be a lot of "well homophobia doesn't exist in NYC in 2006 and there's no need to give either of them a romantic history with other women and exploring developing queerness is for DUMMIES let's play house**" and like. trust me. I've really really enjoyed some of those fics, and I've come across the type in other places before. However other fandoms usually have a balance, with more nuanced approaches when it comes to sexuality and past romantic history, and with Mirandy/TDWP I just haven't seen that.

(I'm not kidding about and interpretation of Miranda as a lesbian. I'm not going to make any promises about what I will or won't write until the new film comes out but it is On My Mind.)

*If you think I'm vagueing one specific fic, I'm really not **I'm so deadly serious there are a lot of these. Yes some of them are derivative but it's basically a subgenre of the fandom I promise this isn't aimed at any one writer or even a group of writers.

okay also not to get distracted but what the hell was up with angel dreadlocks battle royale general aziraphale. what's his deal? he seems interesting. i want to learn more about that dude.

that opening scene was so bonkers and so out of place and obviously it only existed to set up the Eternal Flame (yay another mcguffin) but there was so much going on. A second hairstyle for Aziraphale. Newly fallen Crowley Crawly. Who's angelic name we STILL NEVER LEARN??? I KNOW THAT ITS NOT ACTUALLY IMPORTANT AND HE'S CROWLEY NOW AND THAT'S HIS CHOSEN MODE OF IDENTITY BUT DAMN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN INTERESTING!! Not to get distracted....ppl have been theorising forever about Aziraphale's angelic rank, especially since "principality" can be quite high up, depending on which chart you use. But it feels a little incongruous, especially with how the other angels treat him throughout the show. Obviously it's been millenia, and their opinions of him have obviously shifted but there wasn't much set up for This Is The Guy Who Mows Down Hoards And Smites Without Mercy, you know? at least not in that way. And the scene in season 1 when he gets discorporated and Jonathan Aris angel yells at him for losing his body and being late to his platoon, that's not "oh shit this is The General" behavior, its' "this is a middling to maybe upper middle commander who's a massive slack off and not that important really."

anyway classic case of michael sheen being able to rock literally any look he really is a chameleon. au where general aziraphale and the fallen traitor crawly are both left to mutually guard the eternal flame as part of the "truce" between heaven and hell. they've only met once before, and that's when [loud steam train whistle] was priming up the universe and Letting There Be Light. lots of things have changed since then.
