The crew of the Quest, Shackleton-Rowett Expedition (1921-22)
Currently Reading: Courtiers: The Secret History of the Georgian Court, by Lucy Worsley
Attempting to work through that list of books I said I'd read this year. This one did start a little more... fictionalised than I personally prefer. But it thankfully isn't quite as bad the further in you get. Certainly an easy read with this writing style, though.
2 OF THE PARTY WERE VERY CLOSE TO DEATH! SHACKLETON KEPT A FINGER ON EACH MAN'S PULSE!!! WHENEVER HE NOTICED THAT A MAN SEEMED EXTRA COLD AND SHIVERED, HE WOULD IMMEDIATELY ORDER ANOTHER HOT DRINK TO BE PREPARED AND SERVED TO ALL!!!!!!!! HE NEVER LET THE MAN KNOW THAT IT WAS ON HIS ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(recalled by Frank Worsley)
