NBC Good Girls Writers - I repeat, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?!
I was hoping and praying that ending wasn’t going to happen... but, damn it, IT DID!!! I had such high hopes for this season and Rio/Brio’s story arcs... but then you just go and DEEP FRY the rug from under us WHILE we’re still on it!
They really made Dean out to be this sudden great guy and loving husband when he’s been screwing Beth over ALL story line long! He cheated on her for YEARS with women he barely knew, while Beth was pregnant/going through post partum, and nearly put their family/kids on the street...
And they just watch a few movies, share a few good memories and they’re all hunky dory again? They’re really having her go back to the man who showed NO respect for her WHATSOEVER, never valued her, encouraged her, NOTHING.
What the hell kind of message are they sending about female empowerment when they’re having a woman who is doing just fine on her own run back to her cheating, misogynistic husband who neglected her in every sense of the word?
And... this is the part that REALLY PISSED me off.
They made Rio out to be the bad guy
WHAT THE HELL?!?!?
Beth was making Rio out to be this horrible guy who never owns up to anything and got her in this mess. But, what’s ironic... HE WAS RIGHT IN HIS RANT TO HER!!!
Beth literally asked to be a part of it all. She WANTS to be “King” and run her own criminal enterprise. But like Rio said... you need to get your hands bloody. You need to be ruthless and cruel at times. As he said, it takes balls to do what he does. Beth doesn’t have ANY of that! NONE. She couldn’t take care of ONE rotten egg. NOT ONE!
And he was the one encouraging her all season long, building her up and giving her all these chances to fix her mistakes and she just didn’t take ANY of it or owned it. They’re really going to do Rio like that KNOWING how much fans LOVE and ADORE him?
This is stupidity on a WHOLE new damn level. Like... THIS CAN’T BE REAL stupid!
At first, I was hoping that maybe she and Rio created this great plan to pull a fast on Turner. But judging by the way she shot him several times, left him to literally DIE and was SMILING as she said, “He’s gone”.
I don’t think so. Talk about killing Beth’s character with a literal single line! For me, SHE’S the villain now. Not the Good Villain either - a true, cold-hearted woman I CAN’T root for anymore. Not unless they fix it somehow (which I doubt).
I heard Jenna Bans was going to screw up this show because, from what I read, some of her past story lines involved forgiving cheating husbands who hold no value for their wives and just screwing up great plot lines.
I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt until TONIGHT.
They really screwed over Rio like that KNOWING how we felt about him.
They really screwed over fan favorite OTP Brio like that.
After promoting the HELL out of it this past season KNOWING how we felt about Brio.
After giving us such wonderful and loving moments between them and teasing us about great Brio was doing...
After ALL that... they serve us with THIS?!?!?!
NBC, understand ONE THING.
There is a HUGE difference between SHOCKING your audience and PISSING them off.
You just PISSED US OFF.
I’m done.
I’m serious, I am DONE with this show. I have never seen such bad, bad BAD story writing in my literal entire LIFE!
Unless there really was somehow some greater and highly dangerous plan Rio planned with Beth that we didn’t see, I am DONE. They really screwed the pooch with this one. Like... NBC, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?!?!
Talk about undoing a literal season’s worth of character development and love in TWO MINUTES.
What was the point of giving Brio such wonderful development and acknowledging the positive fan reception TO that development if they were just going to
have Beth shoot Rio and then
have Rio come back for a vengeance and THEN
turn into a god damn VILLAIN!?!?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING, NBC?! WHAT?!?!? You just lost half your audience with this single episode and I don’t blame a single fan. Not one.
Because you guys just lost me.
The literal ONLY way to fix it - just a TINY chance of a fix - is if Rio and Beth really did have a greater plan and we just didn’t see it or fixing them SOMEHOW. But, I really don’t see how that can work with Beth's comment, “He’s gone and we’re free”.
Either way, THEY NEED TO FIX BETH/BRIO OR SO HELP ME I AM QUITTING THIS SHOW!!!
I mean, why literally shoot the half the reason your audience loves the show?
