I have amassed quite a substantial list of written works over the last year, all Carmen Sandiego related. To help me and others find them without having to dig through my entire account, I have decided to compile all fanfictions, detailed answered asks, analysis/HC posts and case studies as of right now, all in one place. I will try and have them chronological (oldest first newest last) and in sections?

ok so the clear separation of kissing “in the street” and “on the sidewalk” is delightful. both? for tdbk? bc.... they gotta confess those feelings ?
i know, isn’t that great lolol, it’s a very important distinction :^)
tdbk: a confession kiss in the street / on the sidewalk, and BONUS: it’s in the rain
did somebody say: two idiots on a date but neither one knows it

Today is the Saturday after a full week of heavy rain—the type of rain that falls as if it’s trying to wash the whole world clean. Katsuki doesn’t usually go out on the weekends, but he feels like it’s a must after spending so long indoors.
Apparently, everyone else has the same idea. There’s a group gathered in the living room, including Deku. Katsuki does a quick 180 as soon as he sees him, only to hear that annoying exclamation of, “Kacchan!”
Katsuki is scowling before he even turns around. “The fuck do you want?”
“You’re planning to go out, right?” Deku glances at his casual attire as if that’s evidence enough. “Do you want to come with us? We’re going to the shopping center.”
“No. I’m not going out.” Katsuki crosses his arms to give himself more authority. “Without you losers, I might finally get some peace and quiet.”
Deku sighs, but he doesn’t push it. “Alright, fine. See you later, then.” He returns to the group of happy blithering idiots, and Katsuki deflates. He’ll have to wait until they’re gone to leave. So fucking annoying.
To pass the time, he goes to the kitchen and makes a cup of black coffee. He doesn’t like it, but he’s in the mood for something bitter. He takes the mug to the sofa and sits, glaring at the news playing on the TV.
“You seem especially angry today.”
Katsuki nearly throws his coffee over the TV. He steadies the cup at the last second, exhaling his shock to leave room for pure annoyance. “What the fuck, Icy Hot?” He rolls his shoulders to loosen the tension. “Why are you here being a moron and not out with the other eyesores?”
Todoroki moves from behind the couch to sit beside him, his face as impassive as ever. “I just woke up.”
“It’s almost eleven.”
“Your point?” Todoroki yawns, squinting at the news with disinterest. “And what about you—why aren’t you going out?”
“I didn’t feel like it.”
“Ah, I see.” Todoroki shoots him a smirk that screams ‘I know you’re full of shit.’ “What plans for today did you not have to cancel, then?”
Katsuki’s scowl deepens in response. “Fuck you.” He tucks one leg under the other defensively. “Even if I was planning to go out somewhere, I’m allowed to change my mind.”
“I never said you weren’t.” Todoroki won’t stop looking at him, which only makes Katsuki more anxious.
“Stop that. Your face pisses me off.”
“Yeah, I know.” Todoroki is smiling despite the insult. Stupid bastard. “If you don’t have plans, will you come somewhere with me?”
“Have you lost it?” Katsuki takes a sip of coffee, wrinkles his nose, and sets the mug down on the table. “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
“Even if I ask nicely?” Todoroki reaches for the mug, sipping it while their eyes are still locked.
For some reason, the action makes Katsuki incredibly uneasy. A flush crawls up his neck, until he’s finally forced to look away. He would never give in to Todoroki under normal circumstances, but something about today is throwing him for a loop.
“...Where do you want to go? Not that I’m agreeing,” Katsuki adds quickly.
“A new aquarium opened up nearby. I’ve never been to one before, so I wanted to try going there.” His lips twitch into a softer, more childlike smile that catches Katsuki off guard. He’s used to seeing clueless frowns and smug grins—nothing like this. The rawness of the look sets his pulse racing.
“Fine.”
“What?” Todoroki lowers the mug from his lips. “Did you just... agree?”
“Don’t make me regret it.” Katsuki gets up, adjusting his shirt to hide his shaky hands. “Let’s go.” He snatches the mug from Todoroki’s hands. “And don’t drink other people’s coffee, aashole.”
“Sorry.”
Without looking, Katsuki can tell Todoroki is smiling again.

Katsuki hates this. He hated waiting all week for the rain to stop, he hates that he ran into shitty Deku this morning, and he hates that he doesn’t hate being out on a sunny day with Todoroki Shouto, of all people. Most of all, he hates how he can’t stop looking at him.
In the wavering blue light of the aquarium, Todoroki seems otherworldly. He stands out among the crowd, both in height and in looks. Annoyingly, the atmosphere of this place is very flattering on him. Every girl around their age is following him with their eyes. It pisses Katsuki off a fantastic amount.
He’s considering making a break for it when Todoroki returns to his side. The watery aquarium light turns his smile softer. “It’s past lunchtime. Do you want to go eat somewhere?”
“Yeah.” Anything to get out of this place. Katsuki feels like the girls are about to mob them. “Where?”
“There’s a café nearby. Let’s go there.” Todoroki leads the way. Katsuki still can’t seem to force his gaze elsewhere. The afternoon sun renders Todoroki’s hair a violent mix of starlight and flame. As irritating as it is to think so, Katsuki finds it beautiful.
“It’s getting cloudy.” Todoroki tilts his head up, sun glancing across the pale arch of his throat. “I hope it doesn’t rain again.”
“Uh-huh.” Katsuki isn’t really listening. All he can hear is the blood rushing through his ears. He needs to pull himself back together. There’s nothing unique about today. There’s nothing new about Todoroki. He’s the same annoying bastard Katsuki sees every day. He shouldn’t be feeling any differently about him. He isn’t.
A crack of thunder echoes in the distance. Katsuki feels a raindrop against his cheek, then another, and another. The sky tears itself open, and rain assaults them in a sudden waterfall of pressure.
Todoroki reacts quickly, grabbing Katsuki by the wrist and dragging him under the nearest overhang. They’re both already drenched, but at least they’re no longer drowning—just cold and wet. Katsuki shivers from the chill of his soaked clothes, wringing out some of the water.
“Bakugou.”
“Huh?” When Katsuki looks at him, Todoroki is holding out an arm to him.
“If you come over here, my quirk can dry you off.”
“...Oh.” Katsuki shifts toward him a tiny bit. Todoroki sighs and pulls him closer by the sleeve, their shoulders bumping together. A warmth envelopes him, gently steaming the water from his clothes. Katsuki‘s shoulders relax in relief.
Todoroki leans against the wall after they’re both dry, staring up at the sky through narrowed eyes. “I didn’t think it would rain again. That makes it eight days now.”
“It’s the season for it,” Katsuki mutters. He moves to rest against the wall on Todoroki’s left, crossing his arms in an attempt to abate a lingering chill. His hands feel like ice.
“Are you cold?”
“No shit.” Katsuki chews on his lip anxiously. There’s a weird tightness in his chest he can’t get rid of.
Todoroki offers him a hand wordlessly.
“You serious?” Katsuki scoffs. “We’re not in fucking elementary school. I’m not holding hands with you.” Despite his refusal, his teeth are chattering.
“You sure?” Todoroki prompts.
“Ugh.” Katsuki gives in and snatches his hand. “Tell anyone about this and you’re fucking dead.”
“You don’t have to threaten me.” Todoroki lapses into a blissful silence that lasts all of ten seconds. “I thought you were having fun. You weren’t scowling as much as usual, anyway.”
Katsuki’s tart reply withers up when he spots the earnest look on Todoroki’s downcast face. Fuck. He actually looks sad. This is so unfair.
“...It wasn’t terrible,” Katsuki mumbles gruffly. He can’t be an asshole when Todoroki is making that kind of face.
“I think that’s the first semi-nice thing you’ve ever said to me.”
“Well, that’s because I hate you.”
“Yeah, I know.” Todoroki’s sad smile instantly gives Katsuki a pang of guilt. The warmth of his hand wavers a bit.
“Hey, I didn’t mean...” Katsuki clicks his tongue. Fuck. Why is talking to him so hard? “I mean, you’re annoying, but I don’t hate hate you.”
Katsuki turns his head, and Todoroki is looking at him. “Do you mean that?” His face is unreasonably near, or maybe Katsuki is just more aware of exactly how close they are.
“The only person I really hate is Deku.” Katsuki tries to avert his gaze, but Todoroki’s gaze feels like a magnetic force. His eyes are bigger up close—so big that they could contain galaxies.
“Ha. Well, that’s a relief.” Todoroki’s breath touches his lips. Katsuki’s eyes lower before he can stop them. This is too close. Too fucking close, but Katsuki is frozen in place. Half of him wants to blame Todoroki’s ice quirk, even though he’s still warm from their linked hands.
Todoroki is still staring at him. There’s a strange look on his face that Katsuki can’t name. “What would you do,” he begins slowly, “if I did something crazy right now?”
“I’d... hit you,” Katsuki says hesitantly.
“Yeah?” Todoroki smiles. “I figured.” But he still kisses him anyway.
The tight feeling in Katsuki’s chest dissolves. His hand goes slack in Todoroki’s, then tightens hard enough to make his fingers hurt. He only comes to his senses when there’s another distant boom of thunder. He pushes Todoroki back slightly, pausing to catch his breath.
“You... You kissed me.”
“You didn’t stop me.” Todoroki still hasn’t let go of his hand. “You didn’t hit me, either.”
Katsuki isn’t sure why either of those things are true. Why didn’t he stop him? Why didn’t he hit him? Why is his heart beating so fast? Why are his ears ringing? Why is he still holding Todoroki’s hand? He doesn’t have answers to any of these questions.
“What would you do if I kissed you again?”
“Stop it with this rhetorical bullshit,” Katsuki reprimands, getting annoyed in earnest. “Don’t ask if you’re just going to do it.”
“So... you want me to do it?”
“No!” Katsuki finally repossesses his hand, tucking it under his arm protectively. “Why did you even kiss me in the first place?”
“I wanted to. Isn’t that a good enough reason?” Todoroki pauses. “Are you angry?”
“I’m... I’m not. I don’t know.” Katsuki exhales his frustration. “I don’t know what to think.”
“This isn’t about what you think.” Todoroki steps closer, trapping Katsuki in that same unwavering gaze he always has. “What do you feel?”
“I don’t know!” Katsuki pushes past him and out into the rain. If he doesn’t, he’s afraid of what he might say. What he might realize.
He’s barely made it ten steps before Todoroki grabs his arm. They stop in the middle of the flooded street, surrounded by sheets of pouring rain and the white noise of the storm. Katsuki gets a mouthful of water when he speaks. “Let go.”
“No.” Todoroki’s expression isn’t particularly sad, but something about it makes Katsuki’s chest ache. “If I let you go, I feel like I’ll never get an answer.” His face blooms into the rawest, deepest of blue flowers. “I can’t pretend anymore. I’m sick of keeping up appearances.”
Katsuki lets the rain soak into every inch of himself. He focuses on the feeling of it, and on the feeling of their wet skin touching, and on the pounding of his heart that’s telling him the answer to all his questions.
He fists his hand in Todoroki’s wet shirt and pulls him down to eye-level. He searches his eyes for something, although he isn’t sure what. They’re the same as they’ve always been. But maybe that’s the answer, isn’t it?
Katsuki kisses him, thunder accompanying the frantic hammering of his pulse where their lips are connected. This is electric. This is the two of them, pure and simple.
