oh boy okay, this will include at least one manga character as well bc i’m obsessed with him but absolutely! as for the scenes, they’re probably all from the manga so—manga spoilers warning!

top five characters:

Kageyama

my main bitch from day one, i have love seeing his character development and growth as a person. although Hinata was the main character, i think Kageyama showed the most positive growth out of any character

Santana (both of them)

Heitor and Nice are the best couple in the series change my mind wait you can’t bc i’m right

they are so incredible separately and together, and this scene is Nice proposing to Heitor and it’s just girlboss vibes i love them both

Tsukishima (Akiteru)

i’m a sucker for this man. he’s just such a good brother, i love how hard he tried to protect Tsukishima and how he always supported him despite his own misgivings in volleyball

Sakusa

he’s basically me so how could i not like him

Tanaka

do i even need to say anything? funniest character, and i daresay most relatable

as for top five favorite moments….

Kageyama and Ushijima see the picture of Hinata and Oikawa

so Hinata and Oikawa link up in Brazil and Kageyama sees it and is confused and disgusted and shows Ushijima who is also confused and disgusted and i just find it so funny how similar they are

Kageyama and Hinata on the world stage

this iconic moment really was a culmination of the entire series. here they are, back together again, reunited after having gone their separate ways. it’s like fate

this was so fucking funny to me for some reason seriously y’all have no idea how much i laughed, idk why this was just really something Hinata would do lol, he was so desperate to make friends with him before this and it’s so hilarious how a manga is what finally did it 😂

Hello......can I ask something from Haikyuu? What do you think are Kageyama and Hinatas’s greatest personality strengths and weaknesses? Why? What do you love about their dynamic? Sorry if you've answered these questions before.....

ohhh this is such a good question!! luckily i have extensive feelings about Kageyama and Hinata so this is a breeze

Kageyama:

strengths:

he can read the room: he’s shown an ability to grasp a situation very quickly, and he has a pretty good sense of what to do in certain situations

he knows how to bring out everyone’s strengths: Kageyama is a person who brings out the best in everyone in a unique way, that way being that he’s so confident in his abilities that it makes others want to try harder

he knows how to be polite (although he isn’t always good at it): despite his harsh personality, Kageyama is actually very polite to his upperclassmen and in general with people who he doesn’t know very well. in fact, he’s one of the most polite first years on the time

weaknesses:

he’s too talented for his own good: Kageyama has the Gifted Kid syndrome so many of us are familiar with, which has caused him nothing but grief. he knows he has talent and rather than trying to adjust himself to the pace of others as Oikawa does, he instead wants them to match him, which is impossible for most people to do

he isn’t good at socializing: in a word, the boy is awkward. although he’s pretty polite, if he had been a more sociable person and made friends in middle school, i think it would’ve helped him with his superiority complex and made it easier for him to get along with others in high school—like Hinata, who had a strong support system throughout school

volleyball is what he cares about the most: this doesn’t help with his superiority complex AT ALL. in fact, the reason he’s so incapable of getting along with people who he views as less talented is because volleyball means so much to him and he wants to win. this undoubtedly hindered his early relationships and is a contributing factor to his antisocialness

Hinata:

strengths:

he’s incredibly determined: this is obvious from the start, and one thing that’s essential to Hinata’s character development is that he always bounces back from a failure

he can always cheer up and inspire others: this is self-explanatory, and seen throughout the series. he’s pretty much unshakably other than a few instances of low moods (but he’s a teenager so this is unsurprising)

he can get along with everyone: Hinata can make friends no matter what, as we have seen countless times. members from other teams love him, and Hinata himself is very much a people person. manga readers will know this to be true especially well because of how easily Hinata interacts with and makes friends with people abroad, even back when he didn’t speak the language very well

weaknesses:

he’s not very sensitive: to put it simply, Hinata has no tact. he doesn’t know what’s better to keep to himself, as seen numerous times. moreover, he isn’t very formal with people who are older (the opposite of Kageyama) and he’s honestly kinda obnoxious sometimes

his goals are somewhat unrealistic: despite what anyone says, genetics do matter in volleyball. someone taller or someone with longer arms will always have an advantage, and that’s the inherent truth of sports: there’s always someone better than you. i wouldn’t necessarily say that Hinata doesn’t know this, but rather that he chooses to ignore it. it works out for him in the end, but in real life, determination doesn’t get you everything as it does for Hinata

he doesn’t always know how to listen: this goes hand-in-hand with his lack of sensitivity. he often doesn’t seem to actually listen to what people say, and he’s somewhat selfish through the first few seasons. he wants to improve his own playing and isn’t very good at letting others tell him how to do that at first. he improved on this, of course, but it’s still worth bringing up

and what i love most about their dynamic is that Hinata has always been looking for someone to match his pace, just like Kageyama has. he always had to find unique ways to practice and he worked so hard to put a team together in middle school, and then continued to strive to become better at volleyball. Kageyama, although he’s a lot more naturally talented, did the same. he handled it a little differently since he isn’t a very friendly person by nature like Hinata is, but their ideals align very well. they both felt excited to find someone who could keep up with them, and they actually built a really incredible bond because of their clashing personalities. i think Hinata’s cheerfulness and optimism actually improved Kageyama’s flaws more than anything else could, and he always stood by Kageyama despite some of his domineering personality traits

oh indeed i have…..

tbh i can’t actually say all that much about cardcaptor sakura because i don’t remember it very well and (unpopular opinion) i honestly thought it was pretty mid and boring despite how much everyone loves it, but i’m not and have never been the magical girl type. however, i can say that i do enjoy sailor moon more, so maybe cardcaptor sakura is just a little boring (but it’s also made for like…5 year olds, so… take it with a grain of salt i guess)

princess tutu on the other hand? let me drop some knowledge on y’all real quick: i was in training to be a ballet dancer for about 14 years, and i watched this show during the middle of that, so obviously it was beyond relatable. i mean, i grew up watching ballets, so i was literally the perfect audience for this anime. anyway, it is dark—that’s not in question—and somewhat weird, but it was one of the first anime where i could almost directly relate to a character and so it’s kind of a formative anime for me. would i tell people to watch it? honestly probably not, it requires a certain niche type of person to like this series. i do think non-dancers could get into it, but it’s undoubtedly the most effective for that specific crowd. however, it’s a good story and i adore it, so on the other hand i would probably suggest people at least try it. moreover, i think people who like weird and dark stuff would be in love with this no matter who they are

i usually avoid school life anime like the plague but this one is very cute and wholesome, and the characters are so fun and diverse and just really lovable

recommend for fans of love is war, although it’s not nearly as unhinged lol

Spy X Family

obviously i had to talk about this, nobody better be snoozin on this chaotic & heartwarming shit ok

fairly unique premise, not sure what to relate it to… it sorta has balance: unlimited vibes?? either way, it’s a fun story and i honestly think fans of any genre could get into it

Skeleton Knight In Another World

i usually avoid isekai as well bc they’re….well, garbage—but this one is so funny and unique and for some reason i like it a lot, maybe bc i just think Arc is funny? idk

anyway i recommend it to anyone tired of the same old over-used and gross isekai tropes and looking for a new take on it

Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de

what’s not to love about this? i am literally obsessed. i am obsessed. he’s so awkward for a hero and she’s so unlike a villain that it’s funny, and together the whole enemies-to-lovers trope just blew me away

a very fun and endearing story that will have even the most cynical person laughing hysterically and also wanting a relationship like what these two have

Paripi Koumei

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai

like i said i usually hate school life anime but this season is making me looking inconsistent bc i love everything about this

these two have such a funny, relatable, and endearing relationship, and the comedy isn’t cheap or annoying as it is in a lot of school life anime—but since this is an iyashikei (it’s supposed to be relaxing and “healing”) i guess it makes sense

i recommend to everyone tbh, but once again to those who like love is war bc this is a lot more similar to it

Random ask...Which houses from Harry Potter would you put your favorite characters from Haikyuu and BNHA?

omggggg okay no bc i have already decided this 🤌 i’m gonna limit it to like three or four from both but if you want more i have characterized like all of them lmaoo

gryffindor bc his biggest goal is to be the best, which i think aligns most with gryffindor ideals, and i also find it fucking hilarious that he’d be the rudest gryffindor in existence like i can so vividly picture him bullying the sorting hat into placing him there 😭

Todoroki

slytherin bc i think he’s very resourceful and capable, and he’s fairly strategic when he needs to be. i also definitely picture Touya and Enji as slytherin, so there would be the heritage aspect there as well

Ashido

y’all already KNOW my girl is a hufflepuff bitch, she’s such a great friend and definitely a loyal and hard-working person, even though she may slack off and joke around sometimes

Uraraka

absolutellly slytherin, this is probably a hot take but i mean girl is SO resourceful, and her main objective is to make a lot of money, so obviously slytherin is my main choice but ravenclaw was a close second

for Haikyuu my favs are Kageyama and Ushijima, but I had to do Hinata and Aone too because they’re my babies so

Kageyama

ravenclaw bc he’s literally a genius (just not in an academic way), and i feel like he’s a pretty logical person in the way that he doesn’t understand non-technical concepts very well lol, i imagine Tsukki and Hinata giving him shit for having such bad grades when he’s a ravenclaw lmaooo

Hinata

hufflepuff bc hard work and loyalty are like literally his whole personality, and also he’s a pretty goofy person and knows how to have fun (and as much as i love the hufflepuff/slytherin dynamic i don’t think slytherin fits Kags, so i like to think that Hinata has a slytherin bestie instead—probably Nishinoya)

Aone

hufflepuff bc he’s a gentle giant with no thoughts in his head, yet he always does his best and is definitely a very patient person, and also i want him and Hinata to be hufflepuff besties! (and his slytherin counterpart is obv Futakuchi um)

Ushijima

gryffindor bc he’s way too goody-two-shoes to belong to slytherin, he’s actually pretty simple-minded, and he doesn’t have a single funny bone in his body, so therefore gryffindor is all that’s left ahaha plus it fits the “golden boy” thing he’s got going on (also i hc him as a muggle-born bc of his farming roots)

okay so i have seen over 200 anime but i tried to think about which ones i enjoy most/have rewatched the most often… (once again they’re in no particular order)

Arte

okay nobody call me a nerd for this but yeah i truly adore this renaissance anime, it’s accurate both artistically and historically without being boring to watch, and Arte is one of the most endearing and relatable protagonists. i love watching her chase her dreams and never give up despite making many mistakes. it’s really heartwarming and a super short, fun watch

Carole and Tuesday

i don’t normally watch music-related anime since that’s not my thing, but this show was so adorable that i had to keep watching it once i started. the art style is super striking, and the vocals for the music are phenomenal. i really love the unique blend of slice-of-life and sci-fi, and i highly recommend to anyone who likes music or is just looking for a nice wholesome show

Balance: Unlimited

this anime was really one of the most engaging i’ve ever watched. i usually space out my watching since i’m fairly busy, but i knocked this out in one day. i love the relationship between Haru and Daisuke, and while the plot itself is interesting, what really makes me love this slow is the easy comedic flow and the way the characters interact

Ghost Hunt

this is a series that doesn’t get much attention, but it’s one of the first supernatural anime i ever saw. i actually rented it from the library… but yeah, it’s a comfort anime for me, and i love the characters so much. they all feel like old friends, and the story itself is just scary enough to be a fun and casual watch for horror anime fans, but it’s also really funny

Karigurashi no Arrietty

this is one ghibli movie that isn’t quite as popular as the others, but it’s probably my favorite out of them all. the story of the borrowers is so fun and mystifying, and i love how childlike it makes me feel, like i’m reliving the best part of being a kid, which is being able to believe in something like tiny people living under my house

Sk8

this one is just an all-around hitter for me: the character designs, the relationship dynamics, the comedy, the contents—i love everything about this show, and although i often have trouble concentrating when i watch something, this one kept me hooked the whole time. even if you don’t like sports anime, definitely check this out

Suisei no Gargantia

this is one of the only sci-fi series i’m a fan of, and for good reason. the premise of this show is something i thought was really interesting and unique, and the world-building and characters are so well done for such a short series. i really love this universe and always wished there would be more of it

Trickster

this is probably the most criminally underrated anime out there, and i will never stop raving about it. the art style, the quality animation, the concept, and the characters are so beautiful, fun, and fascinating, and i never get tired of rewatching this show. if you’re into shows like bungo stray dogs, give this a try!

Magi

this is one of my “guilty pleasure” shows, which i rewatch quite a lot tbh. i know parts of it are cringy, but i love the magical arabian fantasy universe in this show, and the characters are very lovable and always make me laugh

Fairy Tail

this is one of the very first and only long-running shounen series i was ever interested in enough to watch all the way through, and it has a lot of good memories for me. i really identified with a lot of the characters, and despite the classic shounen tropes i really enjoyed watching the characters grow. i still rewatch my favorite episodes fairly often, so i definitely had to include it
