My Wraith Headcanons
late, but better late than never, right? A number of headcanons I use for the Wraith in my fanfiction, All Living Things Must Feed (read it pls im starving for validation)
- Being gay isn’t unusual for Wraith at all, but they do stigmatise relationships between different castes
- Wraith are super physical with each other. (Mainly because of that one guy in “Outsiders” who walked over to his bro and gingerly whispered in his ear, that was completely adorable)
- Wraith hair is thinner than human hair, and this generally softer. But they also have a lot more individual hairs than humans.
- Wraith purr when in a pleasant situations. Young Wraith actually purr when feeding.
- Feeding organs are super sensitive. You can hurt them real bad there, but you can also make them feel really good. They also have cartilage-y stingers in there, that come out when feeding, and cause the trademark wound.
- when a Wraith starts a romantic affair, it’s common that they rename their mate. Queens like doing that to their consorts especially.
- Wraith have lower body temperature and blood pressure than humans. They also breathe slower.
- Most of the nonverbal communication they achieve through conveying emotion through telepathy, they translate to non.telepaths via growly-snarly-huffy noises.
- Most Wraith that actually have Wraith upbringing are very literal minded. Like... hilariously so.
- sibling bonds between Queens mean a whole fuckin’ lot. Also, Wraith moms are fiercely protective of their children. Like, Lioness-level of protective. Even the most cruel Queen will love her children eternally.
- They remain very stoic from a facial expression-standpoint, but they emote a lot with their hands. When they’re upset, uncomfortable or angry, they will flex their feeding hands. (I base this off Todd/Guide going all flexy at the end of “The Queen”, when Teyla tells him to stay tf in line)
