Wristlet Pattern

Here is the new and improved version of a wristlet pattern I posted in 2013 (and apparently deleted). I always made these as gifts and I have been told by many of my friends (and by a handful of people on ravelry) that their friends, girlfriends, or daughters would steal them. So it seemed like an appropriate pattern to post with the holiday season approaching!

Before I get started, I worked very hard on creating this pattern so I’d appreciate if you read the following:

Gauge: 5 stitches by 7 rows is about an inch

Yardage: I’m gonna say 25 to be safe!  I used a couple different gauge calculators and one answer sounded like too little and the other answer sounded like waaaaay too much.  Just use whatever leftovers you have, it will probably be enough.

Materials:

For the pictured wristlets, Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend in Ocean Breeze

But for real, use whatever yarn you find aesthetically pleasing.

US 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed knitting needles

Special Techniques:

Knitting in the round

Okay, now onto the pattern!

Knit from top to bottom

CO 30 stitches in a round

Rounds 1-10: knit

Turn your work and prepare to knit flat.

Rows 11-16: starting with a purl row, knit in stockinette for 6 rows

Join back in a round.

Rounds 17-21: knit 5 rounds

Rounds 22-31: knit 10 rounds in K1 P1 rib

BO in K1P1 rib.

Weave in all loose ends and you’re done!

I really enjoy wet felting. I love starting from raw wool roving and ending with whatever I want to create. Today I want to show you folks a pair of wristlets I made.  I really love the grey scale/vivid color combo and when I got a bit of a super vivid pink wool in a sample bag I ordered, I knew I had to do something cool and 80’s like with it.

  I love the way these turned out. I added little bits of silk thread in places, and I hand-spun some of the pink wool into a little length of yarn to add some texture to them.

I definitely plan to make more wristlets because they’re so fun. Next time, though, I’ll show you one of the little bags I’ve been making!
